Hi everyone Im a newbie on here joined up and hope someone can help.
I make kitcars for a living and the terrano is my tow vehicle for towing my cars and my caravan from time to time, had a couple of months hasnt missed a beat until now. Lent the car to a friend to pull his caravan as he bought the caravan which was way to big for his car to tow !!!!!!!!!
He had booked his hols felt sorry for him lent him my terrano.
Day before had been to Durham from manchester and back with a car on a trailer no problems at he towed van Manchester to Lincoln no problems, but on the way back going along 60mph powered dropped off to a crawl 30mph.
Pulled in got AA out couldnt sort it car got recovered back. I know my way around kitcars but not terranos yet.
This is what i have found.
car came back on a recovery truck, after AA looking at it it came back with with a leak off pipe leaking diesel not refitted properely. I have repaired that engine starts 1st time and ticks over perfect,no smoke nice clean exhaust emission. When you blip the throttle stationary slight shudder miss can be felt through the car comes on between 2000-2500rpm and a bit of puff of smoke whiteish I think as it misfires.
We blipped it a couple of times then the car would only rev to 2000rpm no misfire or smoke but with the throttle pedal pressed to the boards.
Turned it off restarted it,started 1st time, even idle tickover, engine sounds sweet, then drove it up the road seemed to go ok no miss no noises, but if you rev stationary stil has the miss at 2-2.5rpm
The fuel filter was new in Decemebr I have fitted a new maf sensor today but seems the same, the aa reputedly removed the small filter in the top of the injection pump below the banjo bolt, although i may recheck this myself to check for dirt. I am stuck now where to go next.
I drove the car again up the road and its seems to go ok when driven although I havnt tried it under load towing, but still has the mis when revved stationary.I should also mention that engine management light isnt coming on all the lights go out as they should.
Any ideas suggestions welcome.
thanks in advance.:thumb2
