Guys

I am new to the forum, but it has been a great help so far, so I have coughed up my tenner!

My question is:

52 plate Patrol 3.0 GR Auto.

I recently had the turbo go - it was certainly farm-trucked as the shaft was really wobbly and there was loads of oil in the inlet etc.

I have fitted a new turbo, and the car starts and runs, and drives off up the road, but if you dump the throttle it goes really dead.

If you then lift and re-apply the throttle gently she accelerates as she used to.

I have read the fault codes using the wire trick and am getting (in order):

0905 (Turbo pressure sensor problem )

1403 (NATS problem)

and

0707 (Fuel Injection timing control)

the last one could be from when the pump went down and I was charged a whopping £1500 to put it right by Nissan (who I am sure didn't actually know what they were doing)

I have cleared the codes (and checked the code showing which was 0505 -no faults) and then gone up the road -and the car still has the fault, but on reading the codes on my return it is now showing no faults (0505)!

HEEELLLLPPP!

I am blowed if I can suss it out! Give me a steam roller and I can fix it!

Any advice???

Thanks

Tony

Hi welcome to the club.
I wonder if the ecu requires a reset, due to all the changes.

DON'T do this YET  wait until another member advises to do it, you may loose your NATS settings :doh and you will loose your radio code. :doh

Disconnect the battery for some time, then re-connect then go for a 30 mile drive for the ECU to re-learn its parameters.

It works on other cars, but the Patrol may be different. :nenau

This sounds as though the MAF may be heavily contaminated with oil, given the inlet tract no doubt had a good dosing of oil I would as a first step clean the MAF and possibly check it operates broadly within spec.

To clean it, remove from the vehicle and with some PCB cleaner from the likes of Maplin etc. give it a good spray with the aerosol and do not be tempted to poke anything into it as it is very fragile.
