Thanks
Jon

A lot of us use 5w30 but often people like 10w40 on here :thumb2

I'm a 5w30 guy. :thumb2

Ah right, never heard of that being used myself, I cant imagine why it would cause an issue but I wouldn't want to put money on it either. At the end of the day oil is oil and I believe that is thicker than 5w30 so should be ok but double check that is thicker, if so, I'd say yes ok. :thumb2

Can't say if 5w40 won't harm your engine but If it's synthetic Avoid it.
5w** does tend to increase oil consumption for some on the forum.

I use Castrol GTX 10w40 or 15w40 mineral or semi synthetic oil which ever is cheapest at the Supermarket.
Mine is the older 2.7 td engine. I doesn't use any oil between changes:thumb2

10w40 mineral or semi synthetic for me.
Got castrol magnatec in at the moment as it was on offer in local cheapo warehouse shop.

Either of the 2 above is fine, just avoid fully synthetic, unnecessary and causes quicker wear :thumbs
