what engine oil do you use

Halfords 10 x 40 semi synthetic and I add STP because engine seems to like it. Goes OK in my motor.
I am lead to believe that most oils come from the same great big tank anyway. True---False---- :?: :?: :?:
Am interested in why you ask.

I used to use Castrol GTD 10-40, but they stopped making that so I rang Castrol, they said to use Castrol GTX. I said I would buy the Diesel version then, he said that the petrol and diesel versions were identical, the only difference is the marketing, people like to but the right oil for their cars, so they market the oil for petrol or diesel cars with different packaging.
I assumed that the diesel oils had different additives, he assured me the additives were the same.

Price of engine oil

I am ready to change the oil again, what has happened to the prices? They now sell Castrol GTX 10-40 in 4 litre containers, and close to £20.00..(Halfords etc)
So £30 for oil for an oil change + filter..

Does anyone know where to get Castrol GTX 10-40 at a lower price, I see Morrisons do 4 litres for approx £18?

Ford's own 5w-30 given we have afew Fords and Volvos about here. If I am short, or in the summer it gets what the tractors have; Exol 15w-40.

Both are CG-4 rated.
