This is a long post and beyond my experience but in case it is of any relevance it is possible for unusual problems to arise because of corroded or bad battery leads or connections at battery. Also have had some strange things happen from battery that had failed (even though battery seemed fine and had been charged). Thought I also remember it being mentioned on here a good while back that disconnecting the battery for 24 hours did some kind of reset or reboot of NATS or diagnostic system. Hope you get problem sorted.

OK disconnected the throttle pedal on wife's 98 with Bosch set up, and it starts and runs at about 1100 revs, conclusion is that a faulty pedal will not stop it running if you disconnect it, it may stop it running if faulty and connected but I have no info on that, hope this helps, Rick

Thank you Rick. I did not see this until now. I don't get the notifications for some reason.. :)

ECUTalk

Alright Gent,

I got a laptop with the ECUTalk now and have been trying to get the TS to spit out some Fault Codes. So far I can't get the program to talk to my T2. The ECUTalk "fails to connect to COM3".... I have a red light on the 14 pin connector and a green light flashing at times. Any info here on how to get ECUTalk running?

Cheers!

Awesome, because this have been quite an ordeal for the both of us :lol

I'm guessing you set it up for the yellow USB port on the back of the comp?

Cheers mate!

I can't get the device/ECUTalk to connect to the T2 for some odd reason. The 14 pin connector is connected to the laptop for sure. I looked in Device manager and it seems that USB is set to COM3 and so is the ECUTalk.

Fast recap here: The glow plug lamp and the MI(Malfunction Indicator) lamp does not light up when I turn the key.

Sometimes it is the way your laptop is configured. Try freeing Com port 1 then assign your usb to use Com 1, what ever was using com 1 will automatically change com port on next boot. Works for me :thumbs

Problem Found and Fixed!! :)

Hello Gents :)

So, I sent the T2 to a Nissan repair shop 250 km from here. I sent it to Nissan, in case it was something with NATS.

There were actually 2 problems making the T2 not start. 1st problem was a fuel return line leaking. That was the reason there were no fuel reaching the injectors.

2nd problem was NATS. My T2 was not born with NATS, but had it installed later on at some point. Something happened to it and it blocked communication with the ECU. Just like with ECUTalk, Nissan could not get any readings from the ECU. I told them to just remove the NATS and the problem was solved. Now I can use the ECUTalk I got from Banshee :clap

Since this was a quite cheap repair, I decided to give the T2 an early Xmas present. Major overhaul on filters, belts, suspension links, bushing and rubber parts.

Thank you for your time and effort, and a special thanks to Zac! :thumb2

I hope this post will be able to help somebody else in the future.

Cheers!

the main point in the repair is the return pip was leaking, now someone elsees thread was found the return pip was the problem.i wonder who put nats on it when it was not built with it.

Hello Gents :)

I got the T2 back from the Nissan repair shop. I decided to spend some money in the old girl, so I had them fix a lot things. Front end alignment and so forth. Also the glow plugs needed to be replaced.

However.. The T2 has a quite nasty oil leak now. The mechanic did not properly install one of the spring clips on the intercooler hose, some some oil was leaking from there. Right side when sitting in the car. I did not know oil is passing through the intercooler.. That leak is fixed now. It also seems like he overturned the oil filler cap.Inoticed it's unusual position right away. The cap sits kind of OK, but I have a suspicion oil is leaking from the cap when driving over 90km/h.

I did not expected that from an Official Nissan dealership... Maybe I will have start a new thread on the oil leak, as I am far from an Intercooler expert :)

Cheers!
