I have got a bit of a problem, my Maverick seems to have a bit of a misfire, sometimes worse than others, it does it most when cruising around 40 to 50 mph put pedal down to floor and it seems to calm it down but not stop it, get it up to 70ish seems to stop, any ideas please.

Can you give a bit more info please dude?

From cold? Or just when hot? Non temp dependant?

Straight into the drive or after a certain amount of time ?

Wet or dry weather?

Any fuel changes recently?

Injectors, may be only one, but worth pulling them and having them tested, the fact that it clears at high revs + good load does not point to much else, Rick

Doesn't seem to make a difference whether hot or cold and does it most of the time altho not constant, it does it both in wet or dry weather and always use the local Esso petrol station.
I did think it could be the injectors so think I will get them checked.

Has anyone got any idea what size socket I need to take the injectors out?

Ah that is a good one, I use a modified ring spanner as the no 1 injector has a wire that a socket will not work on it is 27 mm for Bosch not sure if Zexell is the same, Rick

If it misfires at 1900 rpm then it has the same problem as mine.

I never got to the bottom of it but adding a teaspoon on cetain per tankfull cures it until the cetain gets too ditute. You can only get pure cetain from someone you know who works at an oil refinery.

I am going to take the injectors for testing, I will let you know [Monday hopefully] Am going away soon, pulling a caravan so hope I can get it sorted by then!!

I took 3 of the injectors out cos can't get no1 out, got them tested and all are knackerd so having them fixed, anyone any idea how to get no1 out, the wire connection on the injector stops the socket going over the so called nut, that looks weird as it's round with lugs around it, is that a special socket I need for that one??

yeah, you need a special socket that doesn't exist (or so it seems). I had to make my own. I don't have it any more, I gave it to MakeItFit but essentially it was a long reach injector socket, with the section cut out with a grinder for the wire/sensor part. You have to be very precise cutting it, because if not and if you cut off too much, the socket will snap.

My Number1 injector was rock solid, but I used my socket plus a long reach bar and removed it fine.

these are some pics not sure if they will help:

hwhy thank you sir!

it was very useful at the time I have to admit. I searched everywhere for the correct tool but pretty much every injector socket I found that was the correct size didn't have the notch for the sensor.

as stated earlier, I use a ring spanner, no probs with that, Rick

yup, only reason to need a tool like that one of mine is if the injectors are rock solid and a ring spanner doesn't have the length or strength

Well managed to get the no1 injector out, got it tested and low and behold that knackered as well, firth diesel in Rotherham has sorted them at a cost of £190 ouch. So on Saturday put them back in, could there be another problem that has clogged them all up and if so what could i do about it, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

injectors don't last forever, its probably just age as opposed to any other factor. So long as the car has only been run on Diesel, just ensure the pipes and filters are all clean.

Cheers, that makes me feel a bit better lol, am going to get all service parts tomorrow and hopefully fit them over the weekend.

the best person to answer that is the guy who serviced/repaired them he should be able to tell you if it was just wear or if it was dirt/water or other contamination, if he cannot say then he is not up to the job, Rick
