Hi

Have a new problem.

Went on a bit of a run and the engine just completely died on me, no warning lights, nothing before doing it. Once has died dash lights up like a christmas tree. Stop, turn key to off, turn back on and starts straight away??

This is confusing, dont know if I should be thinking electrical, i.e ignition, or fuel pump or maybe even fuel filter??

Did it twice on a long run, not getting hot or anything either.

Have noticed that coolant is about 2 inches above max, dont know if that plays a part?

Also where can i get replacement drain plugs for the diff?

Thanks for reading the essay!

hmmm....ok, sounds like a short, or bad earth.

ok, check the battery leads and terminals, the cables can crack. check the main positive down to the starter, and check the earth wire from the block to chassis, and from the loom to chassis/block. THEN id check all fuses just in case, but from what you describe, it sounds like wiring...

Does it cut out whilst driving along or say when you pull up at lights etc?

you know what....it could be the CKP sensor, although this would throw a code, but this sensor will certainly cause stalling, because thats what happened to me...

Shaun, check out the downloads within quick links as there is a sheet that tells you about reading your fault codes.

Jim

Look at the battery / alternator & starter leads too :thumbs

Does it happen as you go over bumps? or pot holes.

Lots of those in northampton.

Where in northants r u?

I'm west haddon :thumbs

When driving along, was doing 50mph earlier and it just died.

Soon as i pull over, turn off, it starts straight away

Half inch BSP plug from any plumbers merchants, only difference is it will have male square instead of female, yes I know that Japs use metric threads but BSP is universal across the globe, and this is BSP, you can get female square but not so common, and price ,, pennies, Rick

Not far then.

May be sensor then restart resets the sensor.

If it was wire broken / dirty contact I would have thought you would need to wiggle, pull, hit cables / joints to get it to restart

IMHO

Yeah, Its strange cause it did the same journey on Saturday, no bother. Then today it starts playing up. Only difference is weather, was raining for the journey today, wonder if broken cable is getting wet and shorting?

Would sensor not give me the dreaded eng man light?

As someone said earlier look in the download section at the fault code and see what that shows up. If you have any probs PM me your number and I will come over.

Thanks for that mate. Will it dispay a fault code though as it is intermittent?

Once a registerable fault ocures it will be held in memory until cleared, Rick

Thanks fellas. Will get on it in the morning. wish me luck!!

First thing on the guide says MIL light, I have no dash warning lights when running!
