Hi Gents,
Im in need of some electrical help. a while ago i fitted 4 36w LED spot lights which are working fine. I have fitted an auxillary battery and want the lights to be operated only by the auxillary battery, ie i dont want the ignition on to have the spots on. is the easiest way to leave out the relay and just wire them through a 20amp switch, ie live from the battery to the switch out of the switch to the lights and run the negatives to the bodywork/chassis
this is how thier wired up at the mo. the red between the swith and relay ive taken from an ignition source, black to ground the red with the fuse goes to the battery. Then i want to run all of my usb ports directly from the aux battery so again should i run another cable from the battery with a 20amp fuse then link off that to all ports and fuse individually to the usb/12v sockets.
I'll await your suggestions
Thanks

I have two large LED work lights on the roof at the back. Similar to you wanted them running from second battery. So I got one feed from the battery and ran the feed to two relays. One relay has a wire going to the reverse lights so that the reverse lights switch the relay and of course the work lights turn on. Then I have a switch in the boot that feeds the second relay which then turns the work lights on.
If your lights are at the front of the vehicle then have a similar layout to mine only picking a feed up from high beam would mean that you have best of both worlds.

Hope this helps

Can't you just keep it as it is now but connected to the aux batt instead? If you need to you could run a small constant power to the switch in the cab from aux batt to power the relay so no ignition needed.

Which terminal on the switch?

Ooosh, now your asking mate :) I am a beginner at electrics, however I am not afraid to offer my opinion :lol I'm presuming the switch is illuminated with it having three wires, I think the yellow will be illumination live taken from inside the cab somewhere and comes on when lights do, should be easy to follow back to check, and the other two are for the relay. So if that is correct (like I said tho mate, beginner) you need to find the relay and figure oot which are the switch wires and swap them from the main batt to the aux batt along with the power for the lights.
I may have embarrassed myself here but I will probably learn something :D

Who wired them in the first place.
