both rear and drivers window not working? passenger window ok. be grateful for some pointers before pulling it apart.

drivers not working is most likely the relay box behind the door card, pull it apart and resolder the connector pins to the board, they breakaway, rear will most likely be the motor on that door, only two wires pos/neg one way for up, neg/pos other way for down, if you have power at the connector plug the motor duff, if no power then switch near hand brake, Rick

thanks, will check the box under front door panel, have seen that, but it's both windows not working in rear?

Sounds stupid I know but check the fuses first, do you buttons illuminate for said windows?

Have you checked the button that switches the rear windows on and off, easy to press in error, it's next to the other buttons.
Just a thought :thumb2

For the rear windows, I had the same thought.
The switch is alongside the handbrake.

2nd thought is...
for rear windows, (and possibly the front passenger side, BUT NOT driver's side) if you have had your handbrake serviced recently, then you normally have to remove the console around the handbrake, and disconnect two plugs, it might be worth a look under here in case the connectors have worked loose, or one of the pins / sockets have pushed back.

Has the fault just occurred, if so, what was the last job that was done on the vehicle.. OR has it always been like this?:nenau

But the driver's window all happens near to it, or in the door, not anything to do with the centre console.

Hope it helps.

best regards,
Rustic

For some reason the motor worm drive ceases as there is no electrically switched end stop - basically they go and go until they can go no more and that's when the window is all the way up.

Sometimes they are wound up so tight against the worm drive that they jam and the initial reverse polarity ( window down command) isn't enough to break the tension and they appear dead as door nails when infact all you are doing is heating up the windings of the armature.

Sometimes just removing them from the door releases enough tension so give it a quick go before dismantling any further from here.:thumbs

Another fault is that the motor brushes may be excessively worn or commutator ring very dirty and so the motor may have hit a 'dead spot'

To solve the problem, the door pannel has to come off and the motor removed from the door via 3 screws. Remove 4 screws from the end of the motor taking note that it goes back together the same way round otherwise it will run in reverse.

You can clean the commutator and brushes with meths on a rag and apply some contact lube to the commutator on re-assembly.

Good luck

I love it when a bird puts us blokes to shame :clap

had the centre consol out and checked connectors, tested switches and checked fusible link and circuit breaker (right of pedals) not checked motors as suggested, is it possible to have 3 down! back 2 and passenger playing up? Thanks for your help.

elecrtric windows not working

finnaly cracked it (drivers side) 12v to the motor both sides, so got power there, loosened the 4 screws holding the motor to the window mechanism and it worked. Couple of screws missing out of the window guide top and bottom. Could this have helped to have cause the prob? Just the back 2 now. Thanks to all for takeing the trouble to help.

Sometimes you've got to just sit back with a cup of tea :thumbs.... and think of the simple things .... we can easily get lead to some of the most complex theories and conclusions only to find that after you've stripped the engine down looking for that random noise ..... that all along it was a marble in the ash tray. :doh
