Hi all,

I have just bought a 1995 Maverick and the seller stated that he thought the window motor was broken as he has changed the switch and it still wasn't working.

I took the door panel off and traced the wires to discover the relay wasn't even plugged in :doh

I have managed to get a relay from eBay but i am now struggling to find the lead/plug/adapter, that i need to plug the relay into. I have the plug in the picture, just not sure what else i need. The motor works as i have put 12v upto it and its fine.

Any help in what else i need would be much appreciated as i am currently melting in the drivers seat

Thanks for any help

Have you got pic of the relay if its the right one it should just plug in.
Welcome to the club.

Thanks for the quick reply and the welcome, it just looks like a standard relay, which from what i've read its the same as the sunroof one, its in the picture but doesn't really have a pic of the pins,

From doing some searches they all appear to be the same, which made me think there must be another bit.

Sorry mate thats not the drivers window relay

ive got a relay if you're interested, i'll put a pic of it on for you:thumb2

That's probably it, try a photo showing the connections :doh as that's all he has!

Well eBay is rubbish, they all say Maverick window relay, Oh well!!

A photo of the connector would be good, also what are you thinking in terms of cash?

I have a small problem with my drivers window I think:doh, pressing the switch quickly powers it all the way down, but I have to hold the switch to get it back, is this correct or a problem?:bow

Hi thanks for the update i will get the door card off to check it.

Are there any problems to look out for in getting the card off to get at the relay, I assume the relay is behind the card?

removal

it is, right, there's a screw in the grab handle that you remove, then remove door handle surround with a flat screw driver, then theres 2 scrwes at the front of the door card that hav grey covers over them, pop them off and unscrew, the door card wil need pulled from the bottom and has poppers around, give it a firm tug and when all the poppers are out, lift up and off the door :thumbs

Hi, thanks for the update, I will give it a look over the weekend:clap

The door cards are quite easy to remove, if I was you, I'd stick a new pair of speakers in as the standard blaupunkt Ones are crap, well, on terranos anyway, think it's fords own in the mav  they're 4" by 6" (oval shaped):thumbs

Door relay

Hi did you finally sort out your problem?

I had the same issue with my Mistral so took it apart on the bench and checked for dirt, faulty relays and loose connections. Tried it for a week but still ended up banging the door to make it work. (Most embarrassing at car park ticket machines).

Anyway I got it on the bench again. As a precaution I re-soldered every component on the relay circuit board. When I re-installed it I also took the ruddy anti corrosion grease and re-formed every connector in the door loom, hey presto all works well now.

As an electronic engineer I suspect that over the years the vibrations created poor solder joints on the relay control board so re-soldering them all did the trick

If you are confident at soldering then why not try this.
