My '96 Terrano II's electric mirrors (not the heated models) don't respond to the interior direction adjuster, whether its directed to left or right mirror.

I can adjust the mirrors the old fashioned way - manually - but I don't like having stuff that just don't work.

I suspect a power failure. I've checked for blown fuses in the fuse panel to the left of my (LHD) steering wheel and all are good. The wiring diagram is a little confusing to the layman (i.e. ME!). Before I start poking around with the voltmeter- what else should I look for? Many thanks.

this happened on our first 93 terrano

the motor had just seized up

Hi,

Did they both work at some stage?, or have they both packed up at the same time?

If both failed together then has to be the power supply.

May be power at the switch and the switch has failed.

Electric mirrors not working.

Thanks Mav and Chumba

Forgot to mention - just bought the beast and they weren't working when I got it. So I don't know the history of how they failed, just that neither works wherever I put the selector switch prior to trying to adjust them from the interior.

I thought someone might have had the same problem and point me towards something to check out first before I start dismantling stuff. Regards.

more than likely the switch, there not the toughest of switches. had to fix mine not so long ago. one of the tiny connectors inside had moved. they quite often pop up on ebay to.

Thanks T-Jay

Checked the switch as first port of call and found that somebody had been there before me - part of the innards are missing! Anybody know where I can get an electric door mirror control switch, perhaps from a breakers so I don't have to pay main dealer prices? (It may not be the problem - I can still adjust by hand)

Regards to all

Thanks Sweety
Just done that and await a reply. If others know another non-ebay site or Terrano/Maverick breaker - please post.
Regards CL

Hi, put in on google,'car parts uk' then fill in the various breakers sites, sit back and wait for them to come back to you with switch offers. Wait a couple of days, see who has the best deal. Good luck.

Hi guys and thanks to all for the advice.

Managed to source a secondhand switch for 17 quid from a breaker advertising on ebay. Not only did it arrive in good time but even though they haven't worked for some time, my mirror motors aren't seized up and lo and behold they both work!!! Who's a happy bunny then????

Regards to all CL

Well done Captain, Another job done and all in working condition again.

Windows seem so trivial until they pack up, you just dont miss them until they break down.

Mav.
