Hi,
Recently purchased a 97 Maverick 2.7TDi.
Electric mirrors not working. Power getting to the back of the switch. So brought a replacement switch on Ebay, still no joy. :(
When you press the centre of the e/m switch you hear the odd click from the mirrors. Fuses look all ok.
Waiting for my haynes manual to turn up, but in the mean time, wheres the motor for the mirrors ? Any other ideas?

Your help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Colin.

Hi, the motors are in the mirror assembly.
But doesn't sound like this is the problem.
There is a connector in the door panel, but you have to remove the door panel to get at it.
To remove the whole mirror you will need to remove the door panel anyway.
A new replacement electric mirror is in the order of £200 and there are several types depending on the year.
Mostly trim issues, black outer or chrome or even painted versions.

I wouldn't have thought it was the mirror, it is unlikely that both motors in both mirrors have failed, I would expect at least one of the motors would still work.
I think there could be a bad connection.
When you change over to the other side mirror adjustment, does the other side work any differently? Might help to locate the problem.

Quick update, on my Mav the mirror switch is a square switch that rocks L-R and Up-Down with a small slide switch below.
Make sure the slide switch is full engaged, Left for left mirror and Right for right mirror.
There is no controller, all the work is done in the switch.
There are 3 wires used in the Mirror ( Plus heated mirror wires)
The 2 motors are commoned and a wire from each motor.
The switch selects which motor and also if the common wire to the motors is ground or 12 Volts.

If you have 12 volts at the switch ( check fuse F15 I think) then there could just be a problem with the ground wire coming into the switch.
Check the connector in case one of the pins/sockets has pushed back into the plug housing.

Hope this helps.
best regards, Rustic

Hi,
Thanks for the info.

Certainly power to the switch as I managed to blow the fuse. I believe its shared with another function.

Neither mirrors working so lets hope an issue with a connection in the door.
Another job to do tomorrow.
Thanks,
Colin.

Hi Colin, I don't think it will be a connection in the door as both mirrors are affected, check the switch that selects which mirror and check for an earth at the switch.
In the wiring diagram for my Mk I mav there is no way that one mirror will affect the other. Your vehicle being later may be different though.
Since you don't know the history, the previous owner may have replaced a mirror, or some part in the door. Good luck.

Hi Rustic

Couldn't help noticing in your post above that you mention a wiring diagram for your Mav mk1. Do you have a complete manual for your Maverick .... If so where did you get it from m8 ?
I have searched high and low for a Maverick manual and the only one I could find was for later vehicles after 2001.

Cheers
Mike

Hi Rustic,

Finally got round to having alook at the mirrors while the weather was dry !
Took the door panel off and power is getting to the connectors to the mirror...
Brought a replacement switch but still no joy.
When you prise open the switch it pretty hollow. i.e all plastic. Can't see how that can make a connection to the 6 or 7 soldered joints on the switch !
Well at least you can push the mirrors into place.
Thanks,
Colin.

Apologies for not getting back to you, I have the CD service manual for the later version, or you can look on the following site: http://bebrs.pie-dabas.net/Webs/Terrano/R20/fwd.pdf
In addition I bought a French manual for the Ford Maverick, Nissan Terrano for vehicles up to 1996, not as good as a Haynes manual could have been (if they did one). However it is written in French, so not too easy to understand but there are lots of pictures and wiring diagrams.
I found this in Auchan, Calais on one of our earlier booze cruises, several years ago. Hope this helps.
If you PM me I could scan the odd page or circuit diagram.
Best regards, Rustic
