cheers:thumb2

Egr

so on Egr when stopping in my newer T2 I get not all the time Engine judder like could stall
Never noticed in my 98 one if you drive like you have just passed you test today stopping in the gear you are in like 3rd its better, but i passed early 80's. I am a go down the gears trying to change because wife did advanced driving and its about saving fuel. and brake are better ABS Until a new driver runs into the back of you on a steep down hill in 4th

I read that this morning just after I woke up, it made my brain hurt :lol

me too, i came back to it now for another read figuring it would all make sense!

sorry guys just wanted to no why the egr causes problems type what how, small judder on mine when stopping.

OH i see, well, i suppose it depends how bad the EGR is. It would cause a lot of black smoke at startup, and especially when putting the foot down. You would feel a noticable lack of power, perhaps gaining momentum slowly till the turbo kicks in. It MIGHT cause shudder at idle/low revs, but idoubt it would be noticable.

to expand what clive said, the EGR's can seize shut, so it bassically works as an engine brake, the engine can end up fighting with the egr:doh

No it doesn't

What do you think happens when u blank it :doh

seizing shut would be great, seizing open is the problem

Yes, the issue is the egr getting stuck open, or partially, so its letting crap in there all the time as opposed to during driving. Nothing gets burned then.

Thanks guys

No smoke runs well, might clean Maff, Small service, oil, diesel filters. low on tick over as you stop when going down the gears.

On a petrol car you can turn up or down on tick over, can the same method be done on a diesel.

Ps only a small problem car only done 44.000

Can't adjust idle on Terrano, its controlled by the ecu I think. You can try adjust the throttle position sensor, top of the pedal.
