ever since i bought the t2 been having problems with smoke and mpg and not sure if you are suposed to have a y piece from the egr valve pipe going into the top solenoid

exacly the same here. the daughters one smokes and has massive mpg and low power.
tried all of that

only found small turbo wast gate hose split. changed that and it was a little better.

recently someone had similar symptoms the changed the injectors and last i heard they was happy... im guessing that was not you...
let me know if it was ... save me looking it up for you

YES THAT WAS ME :dohSORRY BUT THE MPG IS STILL ONLY 19 MPG THE SAME AS TOWING MY CARAVAN IT HASEN,T MADE A DIFERANCE APART FROM GETTING AN EXTRA 5 MPG THERE MUST BE SOMTHING ELSE SURELY:confused:

other thoughts i had ... not tested yet though so its only a hunch

worn waste gate valve... change it
do you have oil in the turbo hose ? i did. bypassed the oil breather

have you cecked the little hose to the waste gate ?

CHERRS FOR THAT :thumb2 HOW WOULD I GO ABOUT DOING THAT AND WERE ABOUT IS IT
ALSO NOT SURE BUT DO YOU HAVE A CLUE TO WHAT THIS IS IN THE NEXT QUOTE

also have you checked the fuel lines for leaks

it might not show its loosing fuel but it could still suck air in.

how does it start first turn or does it need turning over

waste gate is connected to your turbo and your exhaust
its a gold metal circular thing a rod goes to the exhaust (dont adjust this)
and a hose (about the length of your little finger 10mm thick) goes to the engine.
it controls when the turbo kicks in split hose = no turbo or not right at least.
worn out waste gate will do the same i guess

hi no i did notice when i changed the fuel filter that the clamps on the housing wouldent tighten very firm i can still move them from side to side but it primed up ok and i don,t have trouble starting at all it starts on first turn of the key

the power and the turbo seem very responsive and good but saying that i have,t driven another terrano to compare too

so you could be getting air in the mix

look at the little hose too tomorrow (waste gate)

open the turbo hose too the big one over the top of the rocker cover check for loads of oil

try to eliminate any movement in the filter maybe air getting in

try to pm toolbox he's the wiz with these trucks Toolbox

ill try to do some pics tomorrow

Has it always been like this since you have owned it? Just wondered if the last owner had a play with the pump.
