well thats in America for a start.

EGR removal on some vehicles will have a positive effect, on other no effect. ON ANY car, it is not so good for the environment due to the toxins not burnt due to the egr system.

I have blanked the EGR on my Fiat Stilo, with nothing but positive results. Totally different car. Drives great, MPG has shot up, thus fuel usage has gone down. No smoke out the back, everything runs sweet.

dont go reading scare stories, and stay out of American forums, most of their engines are totally different anyway, with totally different restrictions on emmisions in place.

Ok, I might remove it then. Im just a bit worried about buggeting it up

That, is one thing you won't do. Its EGR. Some cars don't even have one.

why would you want to re inject your exhaust into your inlet manifold, other than to satisfy some idiot in an office some place making rules for the sake of rules, Rick

so what gases go thru an egr, cant imagine it being the entire exhaust
otherwise there would twice as much next time round as it were?

does the sump vent in this manner?

agree about the yank stuff, they've had emmision stuff going on 20
plus years, there was a thing called CARB, california air research
bureau, which restricted modding california vehicles with things like
cams, exhausts, carburettor and injection systems and so forth.

wouldnt be suprised if the CA regs have extended to other states
in the intervening years.

Ok, is it just a simple job of removing the egr and blanking the hole where it was? I don't want my truck to fail emissions or annoy mot folk:rolleyes: if I get an "all clear" from you guys that little thing is coming off;)

Also, will insurance be effected?

the EGR cannot come into operation when MOT guy revs the engine off load, so will make no difference, as far as I can tell it only comes in when you are on light over run, so how long are you going to be running like this, not worth the effort but some mathematics crap says you reduce nox buy x % so it looks good on paper, Rick

Timbo summed it up a while ago:
"EGR is the work of the devil"

if you're worried about emissions come MOT time, run it low and throw in some veg oil or bio. Then they'll be wondering where all the emissions went.

some have EGR some don't

Hi All,

A question about EGR fitment.

I have a 1998 LWB Terrano 2.7tdi SE Touring, it has no EGR stuff on it. No valves, pipes etc.
A work friend has a 1998 Maverick 2.7 tdi same LWB but his has all the EGR stuff on it. Valves, Pipes Inlet butterfly etc.

Why did Nissan/Ford fit EGR stuff to some and not others? Was it luck of the draw if you got a truck without it?

Just curious really.:nenau

Cheers

Steve.

Not quite correct - there have been further developments along the same lines as the EGR valve (fortunately not on our trucks)

EGR is the work of his minions
DPF is the work of the Devil.

My x reg.2000 terrano doesnt have the work of the devil.

My 1996 Mk1 does have the devil's plaything installed, but so far mine is just ballgagged :naughty. Seems to be okay at that for now, although I too like the idea of blanking it entirely, but there's many other little things to do before that will ever be a priority.
