HI all

If my egr was stuck open would it throw the eml on?

My terrano just doesn't pull anywhere near like my old one, new one a 2004 old one a 1998 both 2.7tdi

Ive cleaned the maf and no noticeable difference, if i drive with maf unplugged its ever so slightly slower but hardly noticeable.

I'm thinking egr stuck open, so where can i get a blank from? Will it throw the eml on if i do blank it? and is it as simple as blanking and blocking the the vac pipe?

Cheers
Glen

There should be a huge difference between the maf being plugged in & unpluged so you might have a dieing maf. Think i've got an iffy EGR tried blocking the vac pipe & think it has helped some but TBH think i'm going to have to blank it off totally, you can't buy the plank plates so you have to make them up but not sure if you have to blank both ends or just the exhaust side:confused:

You could check the voltages on the maf, its in the workshops bit, top right. David.

voltages depend on what maf it is, Hitachi or Bosch and you cannot clean the Bosch, Rick

Mines def a Bosch. So reckon the maf prob shot then. I'm really struggling finding one for a 2.7 on a 2004. Any pointers to buy one? Cheers

I know the maf on my 55 plate 2.7 has the same part number as the 3L Terrano's checked & double checked with Nissan & they said it's the right one but they are £400:doh yet my old 1999 T2 it was £45 from Nissan can't work that one out as it's the same engine just different years

if it is the same part number then buy the cheaper one and fit it all this pricing is just a con, Rick

Can't find the old bill for the one I bought for my old T2 but looking on ebay the part no is for the 3L for some reason on this one, need to find one in a scrap yard & try it to see if there is any difference:augie

I've got a 2004 and I did the same thing a few weeks ago by unplugging the maf and driving it but like you said it made no difference at all ??

So are our mafs shot then and us it the same as the 3l ones do you think.

Part numbers are on the side of the maf & mine (2.7TDI) are as follows
Bosch 0281002596
Nissan 22680-7F406

That's the same as my 2004 2.7. But I can't find one on eBay etc

Was there not a post AGES ago about the diesel Primera having the same MAF, but usually at a much lower cost? Or has my memory short circuited again?

located this sensor at euro car parts, its listed for a vectra 2.2 2003 model, boasch part number 0281 002479
total £96.41

Im off now to get one so i'll report back

Cheers all

big thank you to theron for the perfect info and a massive cost saving

The sensor at £96 is the exact same sensor once removed from the housing and my car is now flying and has lost the slight miss it developed once id cleaned the maf. One very happy terrano owner now.

Just need to do a service, sort the noisy gearbox, and sort the leaky diesel pump, lol

Still well chuffed with it and its now pulling really well so can only get better with some tlc

Cheers
