I'm going to try & blank off my egr now don't want to remove the whole thing will I be able to slacken it off & be able to slide a plate in ok are the bolts easy to get to from the top& :nenau only steel I have is 1-1.5mm thick would that be ok to use:augie was going to try & cut it so it just clears the mounting bolts but not sure how long it will need to be. Just hoping it's the egr causing a slight drop in power & not the maf as I've spent far to much on this truck this year for my liking :doh on the plus side it sailed through it's mot last week :thumbs

blanking plate

Got one of ebay for £3 that just slides in just loosen two nuts.but it was not easy till i grounded front hedge down

Big problem is I don't know which bolts to undo:doh does the right hand one also hold the dip stick tube in place:confused:

No need for expensive blanking plate, cut one out of a baked been can or similar, more than strong enough and easier to fit, but do not do it on a 3 unless you do other mods as well to get round excessive turbo boost, Rick

Is this a cryptic clue from a crossword or some other euphemism :nenau:lol:lol

he means loosen the two bolts and slide a bit of thin metal between the two bolts in between the two flanges which will seal the EGR from the inlet manifold, Rick

Hiya sweety, I think that as it is your engine is set up to run with the egr feeding a certain amount of exhaust back into it (obviously lol), if you blank it off it will still expect it to be there but it won't. I have heard that this can cause the engine to burn/run at a different temp than it would and that other things have to be adjusted or changed along with the blank. I think that may only be important on more complex engines but I thoughg I'd share it, you never know! I know a lot of people do it and have no ill side affects, I've never done it, mine doesn't even have an egr from factory. Hope this helps, Mark.

This is for those who thought terranosaurusdoug was kidding, knew I'd seen it before at the back of one of my Haynes manuals.
