My daughters Seat Ibiza 1.4 54 plate with 25,000 on clock..Cat has gone!! got a quote from tyre fitters we use £240 arrived this morning not the right one its got 2 cats on it and two sensors, so I took it up to our friendly Seat dealers who she has been paying to service it etc, and said it was unaceptable that it should go just out of warranty and with so few miles on clock, they quoted £1070 fitted but they would knock off £50 as a good will gesture!!!! Not interested at all, that price is a 3rd of what she paid for the car!! Now after phoning round all afternoon for quotes etc it looks like it is a main dealer part only..so they got us all ends up fooking W*****s!!!!!
Just thought I'd share that..MOT due in Feb so does anybody know of any good catalylic converters places that might be able to supply us with one??
I cant beleive it's a dealer only part after all its now 5 years old!!
Cheers Rich

Personally I think £39 for wiper blades is just fine ;)

Hi and thanks for the links and stuff , but after phoning carparts direct and some of the specialist cat people on ebay listings , it seems that this particular cat is not going to be available until March this year, I know that seems crazy but one of them e mailed me the catalogue picture this morning of all the seat Ibiza ones they have and it's none of them!!! All the ones on ebay have a single cat and lamba sensor point but hers has a square flange to manifold, then a lamba sensor, then a pre cat, then a flexi then the main cat and last of all another lamba sensor!!
So looks like she either gotta wait and put up with it till March or pay the ridiculous money Seat are asking!! Awaiting response from SEAT customer services but I wont hold my breath!!
Cheers Rich

I have used an exhaust dealer near Willenhall 01902 305727 it changed hands couple of years ago, used to be called Exhaust agency..
Might be worth a call, and should be local.
Regards, Rustic

So much for petrol cars being cheaper to buy/run than diesel unless you're doing 20k miles a year eh?:doh

I once made the mistake of taking my old girl into the local Nissan dealership for a winter service and MOT...Take about bullsh*t! - as a "special discount" they wanted to charge me £60+VAT for a small injection return pipe. I told them where to stick it and later found them for sale at £4 in my local car spares shop. In the end the shop gave me the pack for free. :thumb2

They dealership also failed me on the front wheel bearings having "excessive play" and told me that "only an authorised Nissan dealer had the tools and know-how to fix it". Quick trip to National Tyres and Exhausts - done in half an hour for a 10th of the cost. :clap

It really is a joke what these thieves are allowed to get away with!

No more main dealers for me! :nono

Its weird, the Nissan dealers rarely seem to have got to grips with the Terrano. I bought my first two trucks new, and the first was a 98 Maverick which I soon found out I was being stitched on - Ford scheduled services as alternating major/minor (and at 6000 mile intervals and highish mileage that soon added up - plus they were clueless)...turns out the Nissan schedule (for exactly the same truck!) was majors only every third service....

So I drove another 15 miles to Newbury where the Nissan dealer was actually pretty good in those days. And 60% of the price Ford wanted.....:doh
