ECU address !

Er "HELP" stupid question time again, but "WHERE IS MY IS MY ECU?":nenau
Got the dash in bits but don't know what it looks like or where the little devil is hiding

passenger foot well, lift the carpet and its behind a metal panel fight where your feet would be

4 x 10mm bolts hold it on

Under the passenger's carpet on early TDi's or more likely, behind the heater panel in the centre on later ones.

if you have a bosch maf it is in passenger foot well but hitachi are elsewhere in the car.:thumb2

he is hitachi maf and in the footwell

It's not in the footwell
So as it's Hitachi, is it behind the heater somewhere?
If so is there a prefered way of getting at it?

try diging out the radio center console, when I did my radio theres a big space there for the ecu

My t2 is hitachi and I thought it was under the armrest/centre console, certainly there is a metal box with wires coming out of it, found it when I was adjusting the handbrake.. regards bri

i think the bit under the console is something to do with the air bag

its got to be behind the dash of foot well sure you looked hard enough ?

DEF. not in footwell or under the carpet or behind glove box or under the steering wheel or under the seats or.............
So I hope to prize it out from it's shell behind the dash somewhere, tomorrow.

Pete, its feck all to do with Bosch/Hitachi as far as I know - I've got one of each and the ECU is in the same place on both.

If you've got aircon theres no room for it in the footwell, so its normally therefore sitting behind the lower part of the centre console, just above and behind the lower cubby hole. Its a pain in the arse to dismantle the console but thats what you have got to do.

If you haven't got aircon then I would have expected it to be in the footwell, but if it ain't there then the centre console is the only other place to look as far as I am aware.

between what and what Pete? Theres anywhere from 80-odd to 134 pins and cables attached to it (depending which one it is) via four different plugs and looms, so have fun won't you!
