Ebay police

Well the ebay police have caught up with me and suspended a listing.

Apparently I have violated the rules by "confusing bidders"

I tend to think thats bollox and more than a bit condescending to the average bidder.

I always give clear postage rates but also offer to allow collection. I also state that I'll give a 1.75% discount for cash on collection. Thats just over half of the paypal fee so even if its only a couple of quid each, both the buyer and i save :thumb2

Call me suspicious but I tend to think its more the fact that theyll lose their 3.4% cut rather than being concerned about bidders getting confused.

Seems to me now and historically those who have monopolies tend to get a bit dictatorial.

yep, ebay has gone downhill on what it used to be 2 years ago or so.

for instance, Since my account i've had one time payment set up. Recently they wouldn't let me list unless I set up auto fee's payment.

Again with price, They take a massive cut of £ from sellers.

yes, Ebay has certainly changed for the worse over the recent years. Its very much biased towards the buyer, and fees are much bgger than they used to be. My mate got a listing cancelled a few times by ebay because he used the items NAME in the description.... a Slendertone Workbench or something, they say he broke rules using Slendertone...???

I've not used ebay for selling for quite a while, (a few years) but it's now time to De-junk again.
I looked at the selling fees and it can be as much as 10% plus insertion fees plus PayPal plus.............time in listing it. More expensive than 3 years ago:doh

Are there any other auction sites I can use?

e-bay Paypal Monopoly

I agree e-bay and Paypal are virtually a monopoly and behave like it.
Its OK as a buyer but for the private seller its far too expensive.
It annoys me as I had to verify my account as my purchases had gone over £3k since I set up my identity.I was not prepared to let them have my personal bank account details as I do not trust them with such power(& they are French !).
In the end I took out a Paypal credit card to use for e-bay purchases as I can stop a direct debit with the click of a mouse key with my online bank.
Now if I want to buy on e-bay I have to 'faff' about to use my usual credit card as the Paypal account is default and you can't use another credit card as default choice. They should let you choose and keep Paypal as second choice but it does not work like that.

I think its all as a result of e-bays success in attracting trade sellers to the point that it is the bulk of their business. They soon forget who and how they were put on the map by ordinary people selling unwanted stuff.

ebay tossers removed 2 of my listings last month:doh
I was selling stuff for £15 buy it now and gave free post at that price, thus saving all the grief of stated post price and delivery schedule yadayada:augie
OR if some one bought it on the auction for less than 15 quid THEN I would add postage. Fair enough I thought and plain enough for any pleb surely?
