Easy jobs alway end up taking 3 X as long

Don't know if it's me but nice easy jobs on the motor always end up taking 3 times as long:doh As we had a bit of sun today thought I better replace the crunching ARB drop links which is a simple 1/2 hour job:augie I was flying along until it came to getting the nuts off the ball joint bit as they were stuck fast so had to take off the ARB:doh once off just managed to get the nuts off but had the grinder handy:lol the drop links were totally shot as they fell to bits so the easy job ended up taking around an hour. As I was under the truck thought I better grease up the lock stop ah that was a painful job as there I am greasing them & the dog thinks it's a great idea to stick her nose in my ear which made me jump & bash my head on the chassis. Think if the dog wants to sit under the truck with me while i'm working on it she's going to have to learn how to pass me the spanners etc:lol

Well I had a leaking tap to sort out, the union underneath the basin was dripping. So wife went out so I told all my kids to go to the bathroom and get showers and teeth brushing out of the way so that I could turn the water off. Yeah they did that no problems but my daughter put the washer on!!!!!!

My dog does the same with ears:lol no chance of her mistaking the spanners for bones as her bone are 100% bigger

I did my drop links a couple of weeks ago, and had the problem with the nuts, so it was roll bar off and hacksaw etc... It took me a lot longer than an hour though.

If it's any consolation I got up early this morning to take on the central locking problem, and haven't done particularly well. Wasted half a Saturday at least buggering about with it

Going get up early tomorrow to put it all back together, and give my push bike a service, that got to be easier.... Right?

TONUP bike servicing is easy unless you find something wrong & need parts if you don't have spares in:doh TBH I could spend all day working on bikes & my wheel building skills are getting better

Apologies for going off topic, but I commute around 60 miles a week on my bike, most of which have been through saturated muddy lanes.

I invested in an 11 speed shimano hub geared bike (used off of eBay) last year thinking it would be lower maintenance than the traditional derailleur set up.

It has been everything but, requiring constant maintenance and drive train disassembly cleans every couple of weeks to keep it smooth running.

I'm very tempted to try a single speed set up next time!

Haven't been able to get on my bike for nearly 2 years due to health but going to try later in the year as only covered 100 mile on my new bike worst thing is I retired riding semi pro (MTB) 20 years ago & was super fit if you have a lot of hills around you single speed could be a killer

I spent most of yesterday fitting HI-LO's to the boys Mini, also fitted new brake pads and gave all the grease nipples some attention :naughty:naughty

I think we will be selling it soon as he now has a Fiesta so is like a dog with 2 dicks :lol
