As my off road starter suffers badly from mud, particularly the solenoid, I decided that to be able to remove it easily would be good, this is my effort, quarter inch A/F combination spanner and it is easy to do blind as once your hand is in there it obscures your vision, the two bottom screws need to be in place before the starter is fitted, once the three are loosen'd they can be undone with fingers, battery cable and motor wore off and it is done, the plunger just hooks off of the fulcrum, clean it up and put it back, but if the starter is to be removed then top bolt is now a doddle, Rick

Genius Rick. Anything to make a job easier, is a no brainer :clap

Is there room for a mud shield ?

nice idea, but short of covering it with expanding foam nothing else much will keep out Slindon soup, though of foaming it but by heck does that make it hard when you do need to get at it, as for stuff like plastic bag and cable ties, that just means that the water will get in and then not be able to get out, Rick

OK so got my replacement solenoid the other day so fitted the motor without the solenoid on, so easy and the top bolt is now a dream, and fitting the solenoid is also easy peasy, sorry the pic is not too clear but you can see the top bolt and earlier pic of solenoid bolts gives you the whole picture, so she is running again after months of stand still, new tyres on and replacement pads and also replaced a bad top nearside swivel joint, all ready now for Piccadilly Wood next Sunday, will start a new thread for that one, cannot wait, it has been far too long, Rick
