Alex you will not get 50 Mtrs on your drum, and even if it were possible on a short pull you would lose so much power due to the diameter, and as Ian says you must use a fixed smooth fairlead, Rick

Thanks chaps, I want to replace like for like, so 30m of cable, and yes I will get the new fair lead bit. I just need to see how mine was bolted on, or welded, cannot remember :naughty

Two bolts, easy, just make sure the new fairlead has the same hole centres, Rick

Scrunchy wire winch will still work mate. Infact a good idea would be to let it all out, clean it, and rewind under load and correct the lay overs

+1.....:thumb2

I have done this with a 10T timber winch, unspooled it all apart from 3 turns, tied it to a tree, and winched my self back to the tree carefully.

It passed a H&S inspection the next week no problems.......:nenau

You should do it as a matter of course everytime you use it :thumb2

+1:thumb2 Alex pull all the cable out & attach it to your missus car & get her to sit in it to steer it as you winch it towards you feeding the wire onto the drum nicely:thumbs
