Afternoon veggie lovers....
After my first trip away with the caravan in tow and my shock at the mpg I'm looking into the veggie option esp when towing.... so I have a couple of questions...
1 mixture ratio: would I be right in thinking 85% in summer above 10C and 50% in winter below 10c veggie diesel mix
2 how many tank full before I need to change the fuel filter?
3 even with clean veggie mix does it still smell like a chippy.....:lol

Thanks
Martin

100% veggie 50/50 winter
when first started i changed after about 5 or 6
Oh yes, very much so

I'm running 100% veg oil no problems! will add 1/2 a litre of unleaded to 60 of veg in the winter to stop it freezing

thanks for the reply zippy another dumb question...
what type of oil sunflower, veggie or rapeseed?:bow

Martin

Rudolf Diesel ran his engines on peanut oil. I guess oil type is the cheapest but when I used it I ran around 50 or 60% in summer and less in winter

Rapeseed is the preferred :thumb2

This is an ongoing argument between diluting with diesel or petrol, I use diesel but do your research I'm not starting a war :naughty

Even now cold starts are rough on 100% neat (10 degrees ish)

Glow plugs are not so great atm tho...

Also another argument is the fuel filter getting blocked by the "crud in the bottom of the tank" when I went to routinely change mine as a fail safe option the filter was completely clean inside!

Others report having a very blocked mucky filter, so I guess it depends on the history of your truck, which you will not know, so for the sake of 6 quid change it after x amount of miles :thumb2

TBH the T2's MPG isn't that bad when towing, my parents used to tow their caravan with Mondeo 2L 130 TDCI's & the mpg dropped from 40 solo down to 25mpg & this was with a brand new motors:augie
