Boys, my drivers side exterior door handle has stopped working, central locking is working fine and interior door handle is working fine, Elty mentioned on the phone earlier that this could potentially be a rod falling off?

Has anyone had this happen before, I presume it should just be a quick door card off jobbie to re-attach the rod.

I wouldn't mind but we are touring Scotland at the moment and it's our first night on the road tonight and our base is Keswick, in the lake District

Here's camp for the night, messaging from my Toughbook in the tent, love the Terrano adventures :thumb2

chances are it just needs adjusting, remove the door card and look into where the handle is, press the door button from outside you will see a plastic part move with aerated steps on it, this can turned to one of 4 positions, it may of course be that a clip has broke and a rod fallen off, if this is the case you will see it easily and be able to put it back with a bit of sticky tape to hold it in, or soft wire wrap etc, Rick

If you're struggling for tools or need a hand is there a member nearby on your travels that can assist?

Hope the rest of your holiday goes better.

Thanks guys, will be fixing this tomorrow hopefully

But I have a worse situation at hand :( :(

I had an argument with a post on the camp site, the post won

Damn tough luck, but it should wait till you get home.
You always wanted a steel winch bumper lol.
Looks like the damage is confined to the bumper, luckily it missed your head light.
Should be some spare plastic bumpers around, you might get lucky and find a silver one.:nenau

Gutted for you, but as long as it does not say "made in Poland" on the post I do not think it is a conspiracy against your holidays . And as Rustic said not as bad as it could be.
Part of the joy of traveling so far up the country is that you can search and collect items from people with relative ease on the way back down.

Do not let it take over your holiday though. You deserve the rest and relaxation and you look to have a very nice set up there for touring around with.
Here is a link to a place near Carlisle where I have got Terrano parts in the past, if you did want to try and sort something out on the way back down.

Enjoy, rest, eat and drink. Any order you choose but all four every day.
Take care and enjoy the stunning scenery.

I just got it :lol

That bumper may come back out with some heat & gentle persuasion.
The crack could be welded back up. Saves buying another :thumb2

Have a watch of youtube, there's a guy on there that brings a nasty dent in a plastic bumper with a kettle of boiling water :)

Nice one for the idea but there is a big crack below too :( Only been on a few months after being purchased, cut and resprayed :doh

I'm going to do it right, the way it should be, I'm going to get a metal bumper designed and fitted :naughty

That's the way Banshee.
Another quality thread coming boys and girls. :clap

We'll see, got a few different designs already, the most extensive plans are the ones that were kindly uploaded by Bud (where is he these days?)

Back on topic, I popped into Nissan Central Glasgow and took in the broken clip that holds the rod in place onto the back of the door handle. The guy said that they didn't sell the clip on it's own and would only sell me the entire door handle at a price of £83 quid :lol :lol it gets better though, none in the country and would have to be ordered from Amsterdam :doh

I did get the part number though which he was kind enough to print out for me however this is where it gets confusing, there are 3 of these clips in the door, 1 on a long bar from the inside door handle that runs to the central locking mechanism, and then another one attached to the bar that connects to the exterior door lock. I tried to remove one of these and use it in place of the broken one however the bar that attaches to the exterior door handle is larger in diameter than the other bars and thus doesn't fit through the middle of the clip :doh

Problem is the parts diagram references 3 different part numbers for the clips

80512HD
80512HA &
80512H

But no specific part number for the one I need typically :(

Rick? MadMark? Can anyone help me out with one from a veehicle that's being broken?

Can you post a pic of what's required. I have allsorts of clips in the garage.

I saw bigbunny's bumpers up close today, works of art, not cheap but worth it

Banshee, dont try and cross reference those as part numbers because they are reference numbers on the exploded view of the nissan parts system. Those are then listed with descriptions and part numbers against them. The system used to be called Eurofast once upon a time but think they revamped the nissan systems and gave it a new name. More to the point if the parts have been given seperate reference numbers I would of expected them to be sold seperately unless they have been superseded to be a whole unit due to age of vehicle. In fairness to dealers I cant really blame the uk network for not stocking a handle for a 10 year or more old vehicle. Amsterdam is Nissans central european parts centre.

And I still remember all this and I havent worked at a nissan dealer since 1998.

Didn't know you used to work for Nissan mate :thumb2

The part is in the car at the min and I'm too cosy to go outside to fetch it, currently in Fort William and climbing Ben Nevis tomorrow :naughty

post a pic of the clip you want and I will send you one for nothing, do not do part numbers, Rick

Fantastic Rick I'll get a pic tomorrow, you're a legend :thumb2

As said though there are 2 diameters of bars used, I need the thicker one that is attached to the exterior door handle bar as the smaller ones do not clip onto the bar or allow the bar to pass through the centre, you'll see what I mean :thumb2

my scrappers only go up to 98, yours is later so may be different but once I have a pic I am sure I can find you a replacement, incidentally have you got a steering box sorted yet, Rick

I haven't actually Rick, I have a steering box but missing the bottom arm as I had to cut it off :doh

So have a steering box that I can't even use :doh
