Drip!

OK, I have done a search on the forum and have come up with loads of possibilities...

I just nipped round to see the in-laws and parked on a slight uphill incline. It then rained, when I got back in to go back home, I noticed that the front passengers mat was wet - nothing major, also I noticed a drip from behind the glove box every few seconds.

Now, how likely is it to be the cover that is under the plastic cover below the wipers? I did read that it does leak and just needs resealing. I have never noticed any wet on the mat when parked at home on the level.

What are your thoughts? I have a 2001 Y plate Terrano.

Sunroof drains also cause a drip in that area as they exit into the sill and it gets full of mud and gunk and over flows.
Open your passenger door and look right down at the bottom towards the front of the car to see if it clogged up.
Poke it out with a thin bit of wire then hose it out.

Yep... more than likely, mine did it, it's the lower right screw on the nearside plate, when it leaks, it drips straight through, the other three, even if they leak will not allow water inside the car.
Remove plate and reseal...:thumb2

So wiper arms off, remove black plastic cover and remove metal lid, reseal and replace?

Just a build up of crud.
Over time it gets trapped behind the mudflaps.
Some people have took the mudflaps off to give it a good clean out.

Oh there sure is, when me and adz took all the trim off, omg

The mud was immense :doh

Easy ope the front doors and hose behind lower hinge which will remove the bulk of the crud.

However mine was same as yours. As zaid remove wipers and the plastic panel. You'll see the panel on the ns held by 4 screws. Remove panel and seal, I used tigerssal but took the opportunity to clean rust spots and paint with hammerite.

The fact that it is dripping from the rear of the glove box, more or less confirms it.:thumb2

Also good idea to hose all the crud out anyway :thumb2
While you have the hose out, remove your plastic trim over the front and rear wings... you might have to plan in some time to do some rust treatment:doh

its not the panel, its the seal between the fan and the fan duct passengers side, mines done for ages, managed to get some mastic onto it but it still drips, its awkward to get to when I can be bothered I'll melt some was candles down and poor the hot wax down the only other way i can think of sealing it is with latex, or some form of liquid rubber that used for modelng, but all the time it landing on the rubber mat I'im not that fussed and will be tied it up with another job that involves taking the wipers off
