Today visited some friends and their lad said you have a leaking injector as we left in the Jeep WK.

When I got home I removed the small engine cover and there it was No:5 injector & a puddle of diesel!

Plan to book it it ASAP to get it sorted, No 5 cylinder is right at the back under then bulkhead a pig to reach.

These Jeeps are as bad as Land Rovers :hide:

Hopefully a nice cheap repair Ted

Access is daft as the Injector is quite long.

It'll just be a copper washer, sounds like access is your enemy 😁

You are right its just a washer plus the One Time use Torque Bolt & retaining washer clamp.

I believe some folk cut a hole in the bulkhead to access it. It's the same with the old Mercedes 270 ML's.

That's why I'm glad it's the garage's problem, they use a specialist firm in Spondon who do a mobile service - they did two others on my car a couple of years ago.

WJ dropped of at Garage tonight !

Took the Jeep GC to my local garage tonight for the Injector Seals to be done. I'm pretty sure they will call out Service Garage of Spondon to do the Injectors as last time. They provide a mobile service to a lot of main dealers in the area including MB of Derby.

Crossing my fingers that it all goes to plan - hopefully this is my last big spend before we say goodbye to her next year in all probability (hopefully) be nice to get another year out of her if we can - she was always a 5 year plan & we had her 5 year this January.

If things are problematic & repair bill looks like being stupid then it might be the end of the road for her.

Walked to the garage to collect the WJ this afternoon.

My local Garage have fixed the Jeep - they replaced injector seals on cylinders 3,4 & 5. Fitted new rear ARB bushes supplied by me as they are an upgraded part from USA. Greased all the visible nipples on the suspension & prop shafts etc as per my request.

To reach the rear two injectors they had to cut out a hole in the panel under the wiper linkage for injector removal clearance. It was that or drop the engine & gearbox down - a lot of hours.

I was happy to pay £301.50 incl VAT for the job - £15 for 3 seals & stretch bolts & 4.5 hours of labour.

Result the WJ lives on..................................

P.S. She runs sweet -chuff chuff noise gone!

Sounds like a porky designed motor if they have to go to those lengths to replace injectors, Rick

Yes Rick well Porky !

Pretty much every manufacturer that used the Mercedes Benz 5 Cylinder 2.7 CRD engine has the same issue of accessibility for Cylinder 5 variants the later V6 engines don't have issues. The 5 cylinder engine is quite long & were set back for better weight distribution in 4x4's.

That's the Jeep WJ series, Mercedes ML W165 series, & older Ssang Yong Rextons.
