DPF Location

Please can someone describe to me the physical location of the DPF.
Is it on the down pipe or under the car.
What would be the proceedure to remove it.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Sorry, I was a bit of a numpty there, (my first post)
The car is a 2009 model X-Trail. and I was after the info on the "Diesel Particulate Filter"
Physical location and removal proceedure.

Thanks for that but I really wanted a workshop manual, I don't mind paying if you know of one.
There dosen't seem to be a Haynes one available.

Most of my milage is short trips in town, I'm sure you have seen the problems people are having with these filters clogging up and the car going inti limp mode, then Nissan charge a fortune for a re-generation.
I was hoping to avoid these expenses by removing the filter and replacing it with a straight through pipe, then having the engine ecu re-mapped to ignore the filter.

You can indeed have "dpf delete" kits fitted, they are very popular on VAG group TDI's especially the 170 version which will often have constant problems of blockage and failure to regenerate...

A software update is not always essential, so long as the 2 differntial pressure sensors remain connected to the exhaust and electrically, depending on a cunningness of the ECU - as some expect to see the soot load increasing over time upto when regen is started, and get upset if it doesnt (i.e. the dpf removed)

Speak with your intended re-mapper first!

But your truck is still in warranty.....i think you'd be bonkers to make such a mod at this stage........I thought they just needed a good thrash up the motorway to clean them up?

Your right, I probably am bonkers, but the auto x-trails have lousy fuel consumption so i'm just looking for a way to squeeze every last mile from a tank of diesel.
