Hi again people, the other day I went out to the truck and used the key to unlock it by pressing the key fob and as soon as it opened it re locked itself. This went on for two days but now is ok, the problem I have now is as soon as I start the engine all the doors lock themselves. Any ideas*. Thanks again

have you opened up the fob and cleaned the contacts with electrical contact cleaner?

mine did the same a while ago. god it was frustrating.
unlock the car go to the boot boosh locked again. I didn't dare leave the keys in the car at all in case it locked itself again.
it did it for a week or two then stopped, then it was the same for a few weeks and it hasn't happened in ages.

the only thing I did was mess about with the remote relay/sensor thingy under the steering colum on the left hand side which if I remember was blue.

It happen a couple of times after that but has now seemed to clear up and hasn't done it for months now. but I still don't leave the keys in the car at all.

this probably isn't much help I know and im sure some one else may help. and im still unsure if the relay was the problem or as in the other reply if it was actually the key which is dodgy at best.

Hi, no I haven't as this happens with both keys and were both working fine until a few days ago. As soon as the engine turns over the doors lock.

I'll ask my mate as his was doing the same but has managed to sort it out, it might take a day or 2 before he gets back to me tho as he works shifts

Mine does this if the battery is flat

I have been doing a lot of short trips with the blowers on and lights etc maybe it is that but the car is starting so I think ill put the battery onto charge and try that. Thanks

I'll 2nd that!!

Did have this issue on a fiesta once and it turned out to be a passengers side rear door handle that was faulty and not returning to the correct position

Mine does this regularly, i have found that a light tap on the drivers door, or even shutting the door will trigger the central locking.

Mine is an old '96 model, with single point central locking (No fob, the drivers door lock isnt motorized)

May be something to do with the contacts on the door lock mechanism themselves

Mine does it too - very frustrating and never got to the bottom of it. Sometimes it locks all the doors when you key the ignition. Grrrrrrr

sounds like a broken wire - maybe in the trunking to the drivers door?

Well my Td does the same too. Some times the Mav is in the garage, and I hear a click and all the doors except the driver's door locks.
Sometimes does it when I close a door.

I fitted a central locking system 18 years ago, as part of my alarm, and a locking solenoid for the driver's door. The driver's solenoid doesn't activate, so I know it is not my system or my wiring.
I know the answer lies in the Driver's door lock mechanism, but since it only happens twice a month, then it is not on the list of priorities, unless it starts to unlock the doors....:eek:

Next time the door panel comes off, I will have a look and sort it.
Bad connection, or water maybe... What ever the problem, it is a common fault.
Can be irritating, but what concerns me, is if it is doing it regularly, ie trying to lock a previously locked set of doors, then there is a risk of eventually flattening the battery..

Just a thought... Would take quite a while though...
