Hmm... I wonder

My remote access stopped working 3 months ago. I haven't got a clue how to try to sort it. Would the advice given above also apply to my problem?
Thanks for any suggestions
Paul

If it is just the fob that is not working then bad contacts on the buttons or dead battery in the fob, assuming the central locking works OK with the key in the drivers door, Rick

Hi Rick
The key centrally locks the car ok so it must be the fob which is failing. I will investigate the fob condition. Thank you - but I may be back.

first of all check the battery! then you could check the two microswitches under the rubber cover

I repaired 2 keys last night, I'm becoming pretty good with my new soldering iron

The microswitches become damaged by other keys normally getting into the perished rubber and prying the microswitches from the board when floating around your pocket.

I went to my local scrappy and thankfully they let me rummage through all the key bins (I'm more than a regular  ) I found 3 old Almera keys and desoldered the microswitches and re-soldered them to my Terrano keys and also swapped the outer cases as they were in much better condition.

If you don't have any old keys at your disposal, grab this;

tre flipping fob has eventually arrived and this evening i moved the electronic from the original key to the new flip fob.
this new key gives has problems with the immobilizer: the engine doesn't start and the engine warning light blinks instead of being steady.

Banshee, have you had any trouble with your flip fop?

You will need to take the transpoder chip out of your old key and fit it in the new one also.
If you have tried to start the motor more than 3 times without the transponder fitted then NATS will lock you out and will need an auto locksmith to re set the system.

no, i read something similar about number of starts.. and i only made one attempt and then start the engine with the second key.
i thought the chip is on the electronic PCB.. is it the red one inside the plastic key base?

Yes that is the transponder that NATs sees as a valid key, Rick

great, i supposed so.
is there a particular way to remove it from the case? i don't want to break it

Late back to the party but the boys had you covered

I would try and cut around it with the likes of a Dremel or some really sharp precision snips etc, I practised on one of the transponders from a scrap Nissan key I picked up from the breakers yard before.

I used a really really small precision flathead screwdriver and although it did manage to prize the transponder from the key body, I did end up putting a big split down the side of it :doh

I'm not sure if it did it any damage as it wasn't for a vehicle I had access too, learn from my mistakes and cut around it

thanks for your experience! but where did you put it in your key? is there a dedicated slot? I don't think i've seen anything

Let me have a look through my pics, I'm sure I took a picture of it, if your flip key is the same style as mine, there was a perfect spot for it near the point in the body that the key blade pivot point is......

i assume it's exactly the same, from aliexpress, according to your pic!

I've bought a couple of these!

Those are the ones!!!

I've taken one of their stock photos and edited it in red below where I fitted mine.

My transponder was one of the red type and say it that gap nicely with a little bit of superglue to stop it coming out
