Got a broken door handle pull F/N/S. Have got a replacement and can see there are only 2 screws that hold it in place. There is a plastic plate that houses the electric window switch that clips into slots on the top of the handle which prevents the handle comming out.

Question

Does the plastic plate just pull out, or do I have to remove the door panel to get it out as I do not want to break it

Hi Chaz I take it your on about the inner door release handle :? The switch will prob come out with a bit of help with a small screwdriver BUT if you think this may mark/damage the door handle or switch I would remove the door panel & unclip the wiring from the back of the switch  I have the earlier mk2 Terrano so i'm not sure regaurding yours but I would think the door panel will have to be removed to gain access to the rod on the new handle you are going to replace

Hi Sweety Thanks for the reply

It is not the inner door release, It is the door handle pull that is screwed onto the armrest of the door panel. There is a long plastic strip that is connected to it on the top that houses the electric window switch and this strip has two lugs that fit into the door handle pull on the top so it looks all in one. The door handle pull will lift strait up once the two screws are removed but it is the strip conected to that prvents it coming out

Sorry Chaz I thought you ment the inner release handle  From what you have said it sound like it's a bit like the old mk4 escort ones which once the bottom part was free you had to pull/lever the top part out to get to the top screw  I'm only guessing here but if you could email me a photo of the handle I might be able to work it out  I'll PM you my address. In the mean time hopefully someone with a mk3 T2 will be able to put you right
