hi all
Im new to the site
I joined because we just bought an 02 terrano sve 3.0 two weeks ago.
It was a real nice car to drive untill it started this real horrid juddering the other day.
After reading through hundreds of posts on this site, it seems that most of you seem to think it is probably gonna be caused by a dodgy maf, and that if it is a bosch one, (like mine) they should cost no more than £40ish -£90ish! If this is the case, does anyone have a phone no. or web address they could let me have, because when I contacted nissan in gloucester they quoted me £270+ the dredded tax mans bit.
Sorry if this has been posted in the wrong place or the answer has been given before but I have been trying to track one down for a few days now and have had no joy.
All that aside, I have had some chukles reading some of the other posts and replies on the site,
cheers all in advance of any help

you could try cleaning the little wires carefully first. use carb cleaner or meths. it may make a difference

mav posted a members name who gives big discount to us hell be around and post again for you !

gave the maf download a look yesterday and tried the remove and clean as best i could, no real difference, also tried to run the car with the maf sensor disconected, ran a little worse, more of a flat spot on acceleration, hoping a new one is the way best way forwards (no punn intented).
is it easy to pm or email people?? hows it done?? never tried it before
cheers

You will be ok Shambler, Still finding your way around.

hi again,
think I managed to send a pm, hopefully it got there but hammond1027 only seems to have done 5 posts since july last year or am i reading it wrong??

usually see the bosch ones on ebay but never the hitachi like mine. Iv cleaned mine often. regards......bri

Hi,
Ive trawled through ebay for hours with no luck, the only ones on there seem to be for the 2.7's. does any one know if they are ok to use on a 3.0?? the part no.s they give on ebay are different to the ones on my maf.
I cant seem to find one anywhere on the internet. the part no.s on the unit are 0281002594 or 2268 7f405 and it defo says bosch on it, any ideas where I might find one??
cheers

the engines used in patrols aswell maybe searching for patrol maf?

Evening all,
still no joy with the naff maf situation. Tried a couple of local motor factors today, gave them details of my maf and they both said it looked as though it was probably a dealer only item, has any one actualy ever bought one of the illusive £40 ish ones?? if so I'd love to know from where??

i got one for £40 from ebay but ive got the 2.7 engine and its a bosch.
it works a treat, dont know if its compatible with the 3.0
if you know the part number of it (printed on the maf) i could check it against mine in the morning.

I did speak to someone today that said 2.7 and 3.0 are not the same.

And as usual its always the more expensive one that you need.

Mav.

hi, Icant find the bit of paper I wrote the part no.s on but I did put them on an earlier post yesterday, would appreciate if you could take a look, 'though I fear mav may be right and they wont be the same.

sorry shambler, i see the part numbers now... i shouldnt try to watch the footie and read posts at the same time!!!
i'll check in the morning for you!!

Hello Shambler,

You seem to be convinced it’s the MAF that’s causing your problem but have you tried the simple, less expensive things first, like changing the fuel filter or trying some diesel fuel additive.

cheers, I will keep my fingers crossed that they might be the same!

tried a few of the tests on the maf sensor and they seem to point to it being duff, but I am going to do a bit of a service on it, change fuel and air filters and try cleaning it again etc while trying to sorce the correct maf sensor.

checked my part no. its 0281002207.
this was actually different from my original part number which i replaced. i took a chance for £40 and it worked great.
however i dont know if it would work on a 3.0 t2.

thanks for looking rag1873.
I may have tracked one down, the garage I bought the car from have managed to find it, they are going to post it to me in the next few days, so I will keep my fingers crossed that it is the right one, other wise they may have to have the car back, either to try and sort out the problem or for me to have my money back!! I dont want that as we realy like car.
