Actually on the bonnet lid, who has sound proofing?

Mine doesent have/fell of :nenau

Don't want it just curious to see what people are using or not. :freak3:

No the MK3 & 4's came without it apart from the 3L's which also got sound proofing in the inner wings (ones I looked at had it:augie) part of Nissan's penny pinching:doh

I reckon there need to be a hell of a lot of sound proofing to make any difference to these lumps.

I have it... It allows me to creep up on sleeping old ladies, on byways, and wake them up using the airhorns, which I have fitted behind the grill, so the sound proofing does not make them too quiet as well.

Haha poor old ladies, yeah my engine is loud as fubar, ive got holes everywhere and no front bumper :p

And no I don't imagine it would make much difference anyway.

Soundproofing under my bonnet as standard.
Not very thick, there are also some soundproofing under the engine too, on the plastic under tray.
Well really rectangular foam pads in a thin plastic flexible cover.

This was standard on the Ford Maverick GLX in 1995...

There is also sound deadening material behind the bulkhead and foot well inside the car under the carpets.

To be honest, you can hardly tell my engine is actually a diesel when ticking over, unlike Ford diesels:doh
There is no diesel clatter from mine, even when cold, I guess with less than 100k miles on the clock it is only just run in.:thumb2

Most noise on my Mav comes from the viscous fan, shifting loads of air until it is warmed up.
I wish now I had fitted electric fans many years ago, they would have paid for themselves by now many times over in fuel savings alone.
The viscous fan still roars on start up, and you can clearly hear it shut down a few hundred metres from home, usually at the same place each time so still working as expected.
This is certainly one of the quietest diesel vehicles I have ever driven.

Either that... or I am going deaf, the wife thinks I am, she asks me to do things and I rarely hear her...:augie
What she doesn't realise is, that I suffer from a medical condition called "Selective Hearing" ... only hearing the things I want to hear...:naughty

:lol:lol:lol

Soundproofing as standard on my 2004 3.0 too. Makes a massive difference as when the bonnet's up you can barely hear yourself think :lol

I seem to have a constant whine from the passenger side though...............must be load-related as it disappears whenever I drive the truck without the wife in it :augie

Ditto , on both counts LOL.
I found adding 2SO has had a marked effect on reducing the noise.

Mine certainly sounds like a diesel, chugchugchugchug with the old turbo whistle popping :lol

i have soundproofing on mine, dont do what i did tho and use it as a holder for my phone. It was getting dark, so i used the phones flash as a torch, held up by the soundproofing, forgot it was there and slammed the bonnet, - one bent phone later....
