hi guys looking too fit a snorkel and cant justify £300 for a terrano one from aus

i cant work out how to design one as ive only seen 2 pics of a diy jobbie.

has anyone got any pics of there ones inside the engine bay and outside.

how would you fix it to the front wing and how would you fit the pipe that goes up the windscreen ?

i dont want a internal snorkel to be honest id prefer it on the outside.

any help, advice and pics would be great guys :thumb2

Use the existing inner wing hole.
Run the pipe in-between the inner & outer wing towards the pillar.
Bore drill a hole in the outer wing.
Go straight up the pillar to the roof.

The bits you need :-

I plan on to making my own snorkel once I get the time and I can be arsed.

Have a look at makeitfit's photobucket for inside engine attachment and then just bring it outside to the wing. I am not sure if yours in the right type of filter housing thats waterproof? Worth questioning.

I plan on using pressure rated PVC pipe + fittings. At the filter housing end a 90 degree silicone elbow to attach PVC pipe to filter box. The pvc pipe will run along the wing then up the windscreen.
Probably have a mount on the wing secured by a rivnut then self tappers on the windscreen pillar.

I just need to check if I can use the fittings to bring it right close to the body. If not the other option will be what adz just posted.

also do a seach for snorks.. they keep popin up now and again on here

.

thanks for the pics and info guys the only thing thats holding me back now is the brackets that hold it in place by the windscreen ?
i cant see in the pics what sort of brackets have been used and i know we are slightly restricted with fittings due to the closeness of the screen and door frame ?

You can use a good quality stainless steel jubilee clip, but it needs to be stainless for strength. Then use the spare end of the clip to fix to the screen mountings just behind the screen rubber. You dont even need to drill any holes:D
Worked for me when I had an outside bog er snorkel:cool:

Will a snorkel still fit along with the big wind deflectors on the mistral?
