So after watching some youtube vids I thought I could improve a little. Spent nothing, used a cheapo tyre inflator, some brass fittings off an old fire back boiler, a dirty soda stream bottle and a smaaaaaalll aubergine :lol

That's cracking. What did you put through it?
And I know I shouldn't ask but why a smaaaaaall aubergine.

Kiln dried sand, what they use for block paving, works a treat, for decent blasting you do need loads of air though, and I do mean loads, I will be getting my blaster going in the not too distant future as need to sort some tin worm on the front of mine that was there when I bought it but never got round, so it will have advanced a good bit by now, but got to sort the compressors out first, one petrol ex portable air hammer/breaker, one max rating on a 13 amp plug both run together and still I have to pause every now and again to let the pressure build, Rick

These are the springs I bought off Mark at the Wiltshire meet. WP_20160602_20_28_03_Pro_zpser02v0cw.jpg

so I guess you would like to blast them? with the little hand held blasters will take you a week, Rick

I used a drinking straw with a toothpick glued to the side and a large satsuma and now they look like this

Pmsl, there used to be a series on telly, goodness gracious me, the mother could "make it at home for nothing," cheese, money, you name it. All she needed was some basic ingredients and a smaaaaall aubergine :D

I've only got a small one , but I reckon it will do what I need it to, and I have a piece of pipe off a gas valve to make a smaller nozzle if I need to. I was thinking of childrens play sand but it'll be easier to find the paving stuff, and probably cheaper too :D

very nice so how? Rick

We have a grit blaster at work. The cabinet style with big rubber gloves fixed to the front.
Soaked them in a sonic tank for a few hours first then blast away for an hour each using crushed walnut shell.
Gonna give them the Alex treatment. But unsure of colour :naughty

If you want my opinion I've always been a fan of Silver and Orange or Silver and Green but each to their own :nenau

Just for the record what is the CFM rate for said blaster, I guess at around 100, Rick

Couldn't find any info/plate on it but online it says max air consumption is 700 litres per minute (7bar) which equals around 25cfm. According to Google :nenau
