DIY fuel funnel

Any ideas chaps? Current set up the mrs has to hold the funnel :naughty

If I'm lucky I can balance it on the fuel cap "door" but it's not reliable at all.. Filling veggie is tricky..

The opening is important and currently plenty large of an easy pour.

Looking for something solid that would fit down the pipe and stay put in place :nenau

Is there such a tried and tested funnel?

With the wide mouth it is ideal, but how about sourcing a really good magnet, some binding wire tied around the neck of said funnel, attached to magnet on car body, just above fuel filler......no need for Mrs Alex to have to hold funnel.....:nenau

Can you put somekind of bolt arrangement through the body of the truck. Then a slotted hole in the funnel so that the funnel hooks on. Not sure a magnet would be strong enough unless it's dam big magnet.

This is what I use and it's perfect. It sits nicely and doesn't twist and providing you're not too eager filling up, the oil goes in a treat.

It's from the Lidl olive oil. You choose, put the olive oil on a salad or treat the car.

When I used to use a funnel, I used a bungy between the funnel handle and the roof bars, so it hung down the side of the car with the nozzle in the filler.

Now, I have a cap from one of my veg oil containers, and using Wickes speedfit pipe and tank fitting, through the lid, and about 15inches of pipe. It's a bit slow pouring, as the plastic container collapses, then you have to let air back into it, but a lot easier than messing with funnels, and I can do it on my own.

A bit of 1 1/4 plastic waste pipe and a 45 bend works well, I like the magnet idea but put some tape on it to stop marking the paint, an do not forget to check it each time you use it for metal particles, Rick

Having said all that a 12v transfer pump is far better, no spillage at all, or even a drill pump, does 25 ltr in about 4 mins from memory when I had the narrow boat, Rick

Just pour it into a fuel/jerrycan, then use this to poor it into the tank :nenau

:lol nice idea but that's double work.

Transfer pump sounds costly, magnet still sounds good! Or suction cup even :naughty

12v water pump from a caravan or windscreen washer motor and some pipe!
Job done!

I tried a drill pump, waste of time. Took f*kin ages!

I saw on here a member modded a veg oil container cap with a valve on it and some hose. He would put the container on the roof and put the hose into the tank and let gravity do the work.

Not quite a watering can, but I got one of these for when I want to put a "Part" amount in. As I tend to run the tank full to empty, I like to put 30l in at a time, so put one full container in, and then 2 of these for the other 10l.

This the the cap/pipe.

and once ready to pour in, you lift it into place, and then rest the container on your shoulder (well on mine with the lifts) for the couple of mins it takes to empty in.

then one empty(ish) you can leave it like this to drain for a minute or so.

this is how you store the nozzle when not in use, so it does not make a mess..

They're on the T1, only problem is I don't have a spare one.
