If you have a bit of transmission wind up the torque between the front and rear prop shafts will hold the 4WD selector mechanism in 4WD. If on tarmac my solution is to back up a few feet to remove the wind up, the 4WD selector will then drop out and the light will go out. Same problem when driving on snow but backing off the throttle is usually enough.

the reason the light may not go out is because the 2/4 selector is spring loaded and if there is any transmition wind up it will hold the box in 4 wheel till the pressure is zero and then disengages on the spring, Rick
