8O Went to Kwik Fit for a free brake test, rear ok, front needs discs and pads. Kwik fit won't touch them as the auto hub is in the way   (What happened to Mechanics  )

STS- Same response as Kwik Fit

Mr Clutch- £220 lighter I'll be tomorrow 8O 8O

Kwik fit said the discs and pads wouldn't get me to scotland and back so thought best to get them done.

Kwik fit said the same about the brakes on my wifes passat, strangely enough they lasted another 3 years and passed 2 mots before they needed changed!
Id maybe get another opinion before you fork out to get them changed as Kwik fit always seem to be at the rip off... thats why they do the free brake checks in the first place!!

Thought that, but if they can't do em they wouldn't make it up would they?

I'll get Mr Clutch to do a check and then my Uncle tonight. Then if both say Yes it'll be done tomorrow and thats it.

can't be an easier job to do the discs and pads, 30 mins a side including clean and grease auto hubs,

not rocket science and saves you a lot of wonger

aint got the time, working the next 12 days, then 2 days off then work 5 days and then off on 1000mile round trip 8O And don't like getting hands dirty  .

as they say on the television -YOU CAN'T GET QUICKER THAN A KWIK FIT FITTER - and thats what they are fitters and not mechanics, i dought many have trained properly and i would'nt let them change a wheel on my motor.

IS THAT SCOTLAND FOR CHRISTMAS THEN (WHERE IN SCOTLAND)

South Queensferry, near the big bridge

Well Guys you must have some pretty poor kwikfits near you.
The one in Bridlington, cannot do enough.
When my Trooper failed it's MOT (at another garage) for missing exhaust hangers, Kwikfit give some for nothing.
They even let me have a rummage in the scrap skip for exhaust bits for my earlier projecst..
Top lads, and fair.

I had the same response for my T2 at KwikFit- quoted me £500

I ended up getting them done at my local garage who charged me 150 for all parts and labour

Thats a good price,

Mr Clutch have done car, £217, they checked rears but said they were perfect

Scotland here we come
