I have a Nissan Terrano II TDI SE Touring (Reg: 28/1/98), and need to disconnect the battery for a while.

Is there anything I need to be aware of as regards Radio Codes, Immobilizer/locking & keys/codes etc before I do this?

The radio is not the original but I do have the code written down (from the previous owner).

Thanks ....

Battery Dosconnect

Only issue I have ever had is radio codes and on some variants you might need to do auto window re-teach.

Others might be able to give you model specifics

Disconnected the battery (accidentally, I should say, broken cable clamp) on my 1997 T2. No bad results, but my radio has no security codes.

I know of problems on the later trucks '01 onward this can cause problems with the later version of NATS and the trucks seem to lose their relationship with the transponder in the key and they have to be re-coded.

Have a search through the forum, there have been at least 2 people in the past 6 months on here have this issue, one of whom IIRC had to go to the main dealer to get it fixed :doh

I have had the batteries off 2000 and 2001 years truck no problems to report.

Ive had battery disconnected for days at a time on my project truck a t reg with no issues yet.

I've had the battery off over night to do a battery off reset on my 03 plate in the past with no ill affects.

Disconnected the battery on my old 99 T2 a few times & with my current 05 & never had any problems with anything:D The stereo's code is stored on the ecu I think as the factory one was removed from my 99 for 3 years but once refitted it worked straight away:thumbs

I've had my battery disconnected over night and had no issues after. Factory fitted radio didn't even need retuning? 04 3ltr.

Disconnected the battery on my Trol loads of times, especially when working on the front of the truck (so the airbags don't go off) or to reset the ecu. Only thing I have to do is put the radio code back in :nenau

Thanks everyone for your input. I disconnected and reconnected without any issues - thankfully. :)

Great news:clap

Mines still disconnected but I did reconnect for a minute or two today just to test LED sidelight bulbs and the new night breakers with the ceramic connectors I soldered on instead of the nissan one. All seemed fine but didn't try starting it.
