On the way to the Isle of Wight as we speak, I'm posting this from the Ferry.

Just about to get off the Motorway for Southampton Docks, was sitting in the inside lane in traffic and a 7.5 tonne truck just plowed straight into the back of me :(

It's put my back window through, buckled my door and now the door is stuck shut and I can't get at our camping gear as it's all boarded up inside now as a commercial :doh

I'll post the pics in a sec when they have finished uploading to Photobucket

The driver was Polish (I'm saying nothing), said he didn't see me :clap , Idiot

So now I've got to try and patch the window up as it's meant to rain tomorrow here :doh

Then source a door when I get back, I think I feel my neck starting to hurt as well :sly

Thats bad news indeed. In this case I would let your company deal with the claim if you are FC as if its a foreign insurance company that you are chasing unless things have changed drastically in the last 20 years you can expect to be dry bummed and fobbed off by a variety of non English speaking peeps as they try their best not to pay out.

Hope you can fix the truck, if not there is one sat in Preston that you can either use for bits or build up.

Disaster bud, what an idiot, obviously wasn't paying attention

At least you're still on your holiday :nenau Are you able to get at your gear through the space for the back window?

OMG not what you needed on the start of your holls:doh I'd get in touch with your insurance company asap worst they'll do is right off your motor but you can easily buy it back for not much money & use the payout money to fix it up & you'll prob have some cash left over:thumb2 oh that poor neck of yours needs checking out so does you GF's as whip lash is around a 2K pay out:augie

Sorry to hear that mate.
There are a lot of foreign drivers here that don't know how to use our roads.
A polish truck driver was driving on the wrong side of the road here one night.
It just so happens a friend of mine was on his way home on his gsx1400 bike and ploughed straight into him and was killed out right.
The polish driver got 2 years.

It would take a lot longer than that before the family of my friend began to feel less pain:(

bad luck mate.
get to hospital and start the ball rolling if its hurting, you never know, the evidence is the truck.
happy camping.

Sorry to hear that, do get the neck's (you and the Mrs) checked out ASAP, Was it a Brit registered truck or foreign, if Brit, it will be easy to track the claim.
Is it just the rear door or has it caught the side panels too.

You unlucky people, what a terrible thing to happen but on the brightside you are all OK and don't lose sight of that. Defo get in touch with insurance company and get yourselves checked out to be on the safe side.

Best of luck and enjoy the holiday.

Sorry to hear this buddy:(.Hope you get everything sorted out, and hope you get to enjoy the rest of your holiday

sorry to hear what has happend pm me if you need any parts to repair it if you decide to hope you all are ok
rob

Very bad news indeed, please get yourselves checked for whiplash asap, although if you had your head rests set correctly this may not be such a problem, hope the rest of your holiday is thus less eventful, re rear doors I have several here, so if the body panels are not too bad a door may just go straight on, I am less than 3 hours away from Portsmouth you could look in on your way home, Rick

Bad luck mate, hope you're all ok, bit late now but call the rozzers and they should hold the fool till it is all sorted. :thumbs

Oh crap this is terrible, sorry to hear, atleast you are in one piece, the terrano can be repaired write off or not :thumb2

Glad to hear your ok, and hate to say it but... Pics? :nenau

Get as many truck details and pics as you can too!!!

Hi Guys

Sorry for the lack of comms, I was just in a massive bad mood yesterday after the event. To the point where I just argued with the Mrs as soon as we got to the campsite and it took us 2 1/2 hours to get the tent up :(

It was an English registered truck, I took pictures of EVERYTHING, I even managed to sneak one of the driver. He gave me all his personal details and the company ones.

I am now dealing with his transport manager called Alan from A1 Group in Wokingham who has been very helpful and even offered to send someone out to fit a new windscreen in the Isle of Wight so our stuff was safe however the frame is too bent.

He has told me to price up a door and send him an invoice, I'm not going to type on here what I'm going to do but believe me I'll be quids in!!!

We got to the campsite and the guy behind the counter was very helpful and helped me sweep the glass out and we got a wallpaper scraper and pulled the seal from the window so as I didn't leave a trail of glass around the campsite

I also took the back wheel off to show the full extent of the damage;

This is how it will stay for the remainder of the holiday, I have to leave the bit at the bottom by the back door free of tape as the only way the back door opens is to use the inside door handle :doh

I had a green plastic sheet that I was using as a boot liner which I've now cut to size and duck taped to the window

Seems like the spare wheel took the force and saved the rear sections etc, hence no damage to the truck. Dopy pratt should have been paying attention...

Have you all been checked out at the hospital/doctors?

Good old door mounted spare wheel has saved the rest of the back end:thumbs Hope you & the Mrs make up & enjoy the rest of your holls:D

Looks like your spare tyre will need replacing too.
The front of the truck doesn't even appear to have a scratch, mind, the MAN I sometimes drive at work has a bloody great steel bar along the front.
It's amazing how bad some car drivers are though, they will cut in front of you and jam the brakes on, the amount of times this happens is unreal, I am also amazed at how mad some truck drivers get with these idiots and tail gate them......Trucks don't stop any where near as fast as a car :doh

Not saying you were in the wrong at all Banshee.

I tell you whats funny, regulations insisting that bull bars are illegal yet lorries like his are allowed to wear all sorts of armour
