Trick for keeping mice out of caravans is to leave mothballs in them , should work with a car too.

Got a brainwave last night and decided to run an extension lead from the house to the car and plug in one of those electronic pest repellers and leave it in the car for the day. Brainwave didn't seem so great tonight as there was some new droppings inside the car. traps in there now for the night. .

Deaf mouse? :lol

Didn't know about the mothballs. Will give it a try. Bound to be a lot less messy than the shotgun or chainsaw options mentioned. The option of getting a Laois man to impersonate Bob Geldolf would probably would work but I only want the rodents to clear off not the whole village. Don't know what the story is with the bronze rat but if he turns up in the traps I will let you all know.

Is that where he was from? You live and learn! :)

Hi Danielj , if you look in the "Virtual Pub" section, you will see "Bronze Rat" ... a joke entered by Paul (lacroupade) ... would sort your rodent problem in no time !!
Matt.

Just to clarify, Liam is from Laois, i.e. County Laois. The other fella, Sir Bob, is not from Co. Laois as far as I know. He was from a bit further north.

I didn't know Liam could sing?

Oh he can't.:doh

Just an update. Got a rat in the trap this morning. He wasn't bronze though. Twas the sliver of ham that got him. Reset the trap to see if any more rats still in there.

You'll have the Ozzy RCPCA after you :lol:lol

Well done for catching the little devil.

Let the dog loose in the vehicle and that should sort the buggers out :), failing that the old trap with a bit of peanut butter in it will do the trick, a simple sniff, lick, click, snap, got you.

Dog does not appear to be too bright. He just sat in the car staring at me. Trap seems to have done the job. Got one yesterday and reset trap was not touched yesterday or last night. So problem solved hopefully and can now get down to the disenfecting.

Try a Brown sauce butty, loads of sauce the little buggers luv it. in your case stick it on the trap...cos I'm sorry to say where there is one....oh and beware handling em. don't get hold of the tail without gloves [that's the bit that drags through their muck as they scurry around]

Will try the brown sause just to make sure. Never touched the dirty bugger only touched the trap.

As a matter of interest, a repeutable hardware store advised me today that mothballs have been discontinued and they are no longer allowed to stock them because of health and safety regulations. What next!!!!!!!

Yum.... rat in a brown sauce butty, served with a side trimming of moth balls.
