Can anyone confirm wether or not the dipstick tube is meant to pull away when you undo the top bolt which means relocating the bottom of the tube before replacing the top bolt ????? :? Seems strange to me but..... Anyone ????? :?:

Don't know specifically on your motor but its not unusual for engine in general for the dip stick tube to just be a push fit.

I would gues it's ok as other engines are like this with a securing bolt at the top & an O ring on the bottom to seal the bottom part of the tube into the engine block/sump

I think the O ring maybe missing then cos theres signs of oil spill near that area. I cant picture what the 0 ring lukilikes so I dont know what to replace. :?

I can confirm as Sweety says there is an O ring in the block and the dipstick tube is just a push fit in to it.

An O ring is a round, cylindrical rubber washer, most often black in colour and this will in your case sit in a grove in the block and the dipstick tube is then pushed in to the middle of it. You may have damaged / cut it when replacing the tube.

Thanks for that mate. Canya buy em from halfords or am gunna afta go to alladins nissan cave ???

You should be able to get one locally dadba, but the problem will be knowing what size you want there are many different sizes of diameters and many different thickness for each given diameter so with out a pattern in your hand it will be difficult to match one up.
It will probably only be a few pence from Nissan and getting one from them may and I say may because this sort of thing normally get supplied to dealers in tens, work out cheaper to go to them.
