Is it possible to have one wheel drive ?
If it was, how would the vehicle perform ?
When cornering would the wheel try to spin if turned to the direction of the drive wheel ?
In this case the right rear.
It was the left rear that was stuck in deep snow.
Cos Im now thinking that it cant be stuck in difflock because surely I wouldnt be able to reach a normal speed on the road ?
So Im thinking perhaps Ive lost drive from my left rear wheel now.
Spoke to a LGV mechanic last night and he said the difflock should disengage despite being broken.
He said perhaps be best to check diff oil and refill. What oil is in diff on a trol ?
Im trying to find out as much as pos b4 I approach a repair job.
I read your post this morning and it sparked me into going outside and do the wheel test a third time. Im glad I did. Both wheels turned and turned the propshaft. Which got me pondering as to what it could be that is locking the tyres in that manner. I wondered if it could be anything to do with the ABS ? Or even some thing to do with when the ignition and engine are turned on ? So I first did the test again with the engine running. Again both wheels turned the propshaft independently. Then I pulled the fuse on the ABS and went for a test drive. The only way you would get one wheel drive, would be if you had broken a half-shaft or the like and then to move forward on the other wheel the differential would either need to be jammed up/mangled or the diff lock would need to be in.
The simplest way to check what is happening, is to jack one wheel up with the hand bake off and the transmission in neutral, then turn the wheel which should turn and will also turn the prop shaft at the same time. If this is ok, get some one to try and stop the prop from turning at the same time or put in gear that will then prevent you from turning the wheel, if this works it is ok, then try the other wheel in the same manner.
If you cannot turn the wheel with the trans in neutral then jack up both the wheels and turn one, if both the wheels turn in the same direction when turning one and the wheel not being turned cannot be stopped or turned in the opposite direction to the one being turned then the difflock is in or the diff is mangled:doh internally preventing it from working.

Everything was fine, problem sorted.
Later on after driving around on and off for a few hours it started again asthough difflock engaged. But then within half an hour I heard a tippy tappy noise and everything fine again.
So could it now be something to do with the ABS ? Or do I have a fault within the the diff that will keep engaging the difflock ????????????
Thanks for sparking me into action this morning tho.
Dint take it in the end as everything seems ok.Hows the patrol Dadba,do you need a vet seeing its lame.
