I'm going to be changing my diff oil tomorrow, is it best to get it warm (like an engine) before I change it, or is it ok to change it cold and should I have the car level or at an angle.

Warm is always best, and best to have car as level as possible left to right, front to back.

Slacken filler first, just in case you can't get it out later.
The oil will come out sludgy grey if it is quite old.

Allow it to drain for at least half an hour. The oil is quite smelly :doh

Warm the new oil in a bucket of warm water, it goes in quicker then.

Well, I changed the old oil and now have nice fresh stuff in there, I was only able to get 1.5ltrs in.
Aren't the fill and drain plugs tight, but with plenty of force:thumb2
