Hello,

Have done a search but can't find what I'm after (sure I've read it on somewhere here before but just can't for the life of me find it again!)

Is there a how to on extending the diff breathers?
What sized pipe, where from, where's best to route it, what to use to fasten it on etc?

Sorry if this has been ocvered before, but I couldn't find it.

Cheers

Chris

there are breathers from the gearbox, transfer box & front diff. The rear axle has a valve type breather on the top of the casing to the right as you look at it from behind. The transmission & front diff breathers finsih in the engine bay, lengths of black rubber hose, one either side of the engine that just loop over in an inverted U. These can be lengthened by simply pushing some tubing of the correct internal diameter over them, I\'ve run mine up to the top of the bulkhead. There is only 1 from the gearbox/transfer box as they join up under the vehicle and run as one into the engine bay. The rear diff one is fiddlier, as there is a top cover, and under the cover there is a small spring pushing down on a circular plastic flap. I removed all of the breather from the axle, hacksawer the cover off, removed the gubbins and then used some impact type adhesive to secure some poly pipe from B&Q to it, replaced the threaded part into the casing, then ran the pipe along the right hand chassis rail and into the engine bay. I can\'t recall the diameter of the pipe I used though, might have been 10 or 12mm, and I bought maybe 4metres in total. I hope this description makes sense, I actually just spent time crawling under the vehicle to identify the breathers and where they exited in the engine

Thanks Jonathan,

Sounds like a day or so off fiddling around then!

Cheers

Chris

Nah, only a couple of hours in reality. And that includes drivig to B&Q as well.
