To do what?

I run a percentage veg oil, so when Costco have Redex on special offer, I run that through the system, but basically if you are using good fuel you should not need any treatments.

Just thought it would be a food idea to clean the system but tell me please you say a percentage of veg oil I'm very intrested cheers

Lots of us run on cooking oil

I'm at 40 ltrs oil and 20 ltrs diesel

Where do I get it and which oil do I need please chaps

If you have access to somewhere like Costco, or Bookers you can get 20L veg oil in a tin or plastic container. I get mine from Costco for £12.49.

Being a bit on the nervous side, I run weaker in the Winter, and richer in the Summer, so in the Winter I only put 1 x 20L container of Veg oil in the tank, then fill up with diesel, and in the summer I put 2 x 20L containers in, and then fill up with Diesel. I have once gone to 50L veg, but I think the car did not enjoy that as much, so stay where I am happy, but I know a few on here do run 100% in the summer....

Unfortunately the search engine on this site is daft, and won't let you search on 3 letter words, so all the words you would need, like VEG OIL BIO SVO etc can't be searched on, but it's worth having a wade back through the older posts as it is a subject that comes up all the time..

I run 100% in summer, at 62p ltr it would be rude not to!

i run 80% with a mix of 11ltr derv mixed with 5ltr rug mixed befor i mix the 20% with the wvo all year for years.

90% SVO from Bookers at the minute @ £12.49 a litre and 10% Diesel using a Heat Exchanger, decent set of plugs and a strong battery, and a Heat Exchanger, looking at a flame plug mod soon and as and when I can afford I'll be fitting a Kenlowe HotStart running on a timer in the garage so it comes on an hour before work :naughty

fuel additives

if you can get slick 50 oil and fuel treatment ive been useing it for years lowers the friction in engine lasts for 50,000 miles on the veg ive been useing it in my truck for about 5 years less veg in winter more in summer same as the other lads a heat heat exchanger off a old boiler is on mine dont change your fuel filter till youve run on veg for a while it cleans out your system a inline clear plastic filter is a good idea to keep an eye on it .

What filters are you using mate, mine are transparent mesh ones but I fear too small and maybe restrictive, I'm after one a little larger

Got any links or names?

You might want to do a web search and read up on Slick 50.... I used to use it in my old cars, and it was magic. We kept a spead sheet with the cars mileage, petrol input, serviceing etc, and from the first car we would see an improvement in mpg of 4 or 5 miles once the Slick 50 was put in. The engines ran cooler, and even sounded better, it was magic in a bottle.

Then I was lucky enough to run brand new company cars for a number of years, so did not need it.

When I got my old Volvo 850, I added Slick 50 but it hardly made any difference. I did the same to my 480, but again no difference. I started reading online about it, and several other people thought the same as me. Basically, from what I remember, the origanal owner sold the name or something, but not the formula, so its no longer the same great product, and that is why the no longer publish those great claims of driving a car across a dessert with no oil in it.

Very sad.

My old Terrano year 2000 2.7TDI developed a strange fault where the engine would kick and miss if holding the accelerator between acceleration and deceleration. After months of scratching by many people including this forum, there appeared to be no cure to this annoying problem.

One day it was suggested by a guy in work who has a mate who works in a refinery that I try adding 5ml of cetain to the tank. It cured it instantly and after a couple of fill ups the amount of cetain in the tank became more diluted and the problem would start to come back. I ended up having a bottle of it and it just became part of the routine of running my terrano. :nenau

Banshee What heat exchanger you using, and where / how fitted?

Where do you get it from?
Was that running on pure diesel, or diesel/veg mix?

Hi,
I have used the below a couple of times and do believe it does makes a difference. Never really been sure about additives and do think others are right when they say good quality fuel makes a difference. I use Gulf diesel which seems to work well for me over local supermarket.
I have no experience of veg oil and do not want to start that learning curve on the one family car I have and need to be reliable, i need to trust it for 800 miles at a moments notice. Believe its more my lack of ability than the trucks though. One word of warning about this additive though it absolutely stinks if you spill it. You have been warned :)

Got this exact one mate, looks like they fitted it to my truck as standard or shortly after but was never connected.

It's bolted to the body on the inside of the wheelarch in the engine bay, you then have to plumb it into your heater hoses.
