Continuing my newbie posts on bits I'm seeing on my Terrano can someone tell me if this is a catalytic converter? I thought cats were only on petrols.

As Rick says, it is a flexible joint designed to cause premature MOT failure of the exhaust system, and put in the hardest place to fix... But all good fun...:augie
 
That's it! , also you take it to the garage for the center and rear sections replacing and they bugger up the perfectly good flexi,trying to get them off :doh
 
Hi, If you follow that piece of exhaust up into the engine bay it is connected to it. Looking from the top it is hidden behind the silver metal heat shield.:thumb2

Not sure on 2.7 but the 3.0ltr has one between flexi pipe and turbo.
 
None of the 2.7's ever got a cat fitted not sure on the 3L tho
 
All the ZD30 engines have a cat fitted to the exhaust just as it comes off the turbo.
