Just been having a read through this site, I can recommend it to all and especially the Veg burners and two stroke adders, there is even a big blue banner to this site, as an ex diesel engineer I can recommend this site and go along with all that he says, and the simple way he says it, helpfull info is the drop down to look at, Rick, http://www.dieselbob.co.uk/tips.shtml

Not been on there in a while Rick but the info on there is fantastic & lots of info on tuning oil burners with the pro's & con's:thumb2

Ooh a welcome back perhaps? I will have to have a read tomorrow morning

I'm liking the sound of it

should have gone to spec savers:lol
the first pump pictured in this section is the type fitted to the terrano.
look at the rating it gives for running on veg....2 stars,a good quality bio like I use 5 stars....nuff said.

Every pump listed except the inline one requires modifications to run reliably over long period of time thats because they were never designed to run on anything other than diesel

so many mixed views on this subject.
the first heavy oil engines where designed to run on peanut oil but I suppose they had a pump to suit, none of this fly by wire jobbie.:lol

So for us veggie lovers, that want to continue to use veggie, whats the answer? :nenau

new modified pump?

or switch to more expensive bio? :nenau

the answer to all your problems is called ( diesel ) :augie :thumbs

I have never really agreed with anything other than Derv, as heard too many horror stories, even red derv I know from my narrow boating days is not up to the same spec, so it will be a deffo no no in modern common rail systems, so to Alex, well save X amount per year on fuel, and spend Y amount on repairs, would not mind betting Y will be more than X especially spread over a number of years, I have loads of red derv here but will not put it in the car and it has nothing to do with VOSA, but my 1975 Listers are quite happy on it, Rick

It's a shame I haven't kept a tab on the fuel cost but I have saved myself an absolute fortune that's for sure. For the likes of replacing the pump if I got one off a scrapper then I would be in the green, if I were to buy one from nissan it would put me in the red I think :lol

The general running of the motor is fairly sweet on veggie but it seems the rubbers are not up to the job.

There must be an aftermarket pump or various? Perhaps these chaps could shed light on the answer?

When you think I'm paying 13:99 for 20l the saving is massive. Really massive, infact it's like half price fuel. :thumb2

I need to sort my gremlins out first, then I will look into better components, infact I did open a thread about this month or two ago, it as a quiet one. :augie

hi alex what kind of mileage do you do :thumbs

That is a very good point I only do 6K a year so going onto & poss having to replace the pump every few years wouldn't work out cost effective for me as fuel prices are dropping even more at the min:augie I've stopped using s stroke over the last month & have noticed some differences engine is noisier & when driven hard is back to chucking out more black smoke:doh I also think there is poss a tiny drop in power but after reading diesel Bobs bit on adding 2 stroke oil i'll be adding it again

Well I'm OK as I've just spent £600 on a fully fledged Bio Processor and all the gubbins that goes with it, I'm knocking up B100 at 63p a litre all in that's as viscous as Diesel and can make 200 litres a go :thumb2
