Finally managed to get all the bits together, made up a adapter lead as per the pin numbers for 16 to 14 pin connector and ran it through a nissan consult and finally rs232 to usb, and i cant get it to cennect to either consult or ecutalk software, the led on the consult flashes but the software wont show any perameters.

Any ideas anyone, im amazed at how scarce info on this is on the net.:doh

high chance it's the usb-serial adaptor, some hardware can be very picky to what chips are used and from what I read the consult is one of them. And I believe there is cheap copies about of some of the good chips.

Try and get a pc/laptop running a proper serial connection to eliminate the usb-serial adaptor as the problem.

Also as the led flashes on the consult it's shows it has some connection to the car.

Is there a socket on the 1994 Maverick, if so where, & what is the best software & connector.

I don't think our Mk 1 Mavericks have anything to diagnose to be honest.
That's why there is less to go wrong in my opinion...:thumb2

The serial to usb issue is a pain in the buttox,i have ended up with 3 adapters and it was only the last one that worked .bought from RScomponents.will try and get a part number when i get to work.
Alternatively, if you can wait till after xmass will send u mine for u to use untill u get your truk sorted.

I did one for a member on here, Which I tested before hand.

I might be able to get a working one cheaper than rs
