I already created and managed a forum in Portugal, and it's a hard job to keep everybody happy.
Mainly when you have some disruptive members that you can't get out.

As someone already told, the pay subscription helps to keep the unwanted outside.

In 4x4 foruns have more activity then other due to the "Green laning" as you call it and after the green laning the posts about repairing what was broken last weekend!!! :D

And great friendships are made!

Hi
I hope it is acceptable for you to tell me the name of the forum you created??? If it is related to 4x4s that is!!!!
I have joined a Nissan forum in Portugal but it is really slow unlike this one!!!!!!!
Although we don't intend to destroy our Terrano 1 off road it would be enjoyable for us to meet others here and do some non damaging green lanes, we are impressed by the number of T 1 that are still used as daily transport!!

Thankyou all for your great replies, I would have made comment sooner but have been busy with study, I'm a uni student now don't you know :lol

I must say I have to agree with everything said, as I originally asked I was just wondering what everyone else thought on why this has beaten off facebook when other forums didn't, from personal experience on here I know people are prepared to help with not just advice on repairs etc. but with personal family issues too.

I have been on here now myself for 8 years and keep paying the subscription fee so I have access to everything :thumb2

Hi Nigel.

No, it wasn't a 4x4 forum.
It's a old cars forum, SAABs. :lol

I do still own one!

There must be something about this place.

Been here 10 years...

Is there ever a way out, I don't have a 4x4 and still I'm stuck.

Nah you are not stuck zipps you just enjoy this place like I do, Rick

The reason you can't get out, is the mud's too thick, and you don't have a Terrano!!!:augie:lol

I was thinking about this thread earlier as I was reading a thread on a social media page. Basically someone had joined and asked a question of a subject that has a separate page. The post was answered once I believe asking them to repost in the correct area.
Anyway the point of this was that it came to a head as the poster wasn’t happy at having posts deleted, in fairness there is a list of rules but for whatever reason hadn’t been seen. Unfortunately it finished up with quite an unfriendly thread complete with expletives and I have to say that the admins of the page did try and calm the situation.
Much as I’m happy enough to abide by the rules of a forum or social media page without any problem at all it just made me think of the points that have been highlighted within this thread. I’m not going to go into further details about what I saw because it really isn’t important. Just made me think what a special place this is and appreciate what we have.

I don't even need to think about wording a reply.

You guys know you're all my life :lol :lol :lol

I've been here 8 Years (had to look that up !! )

only 30 posts ( don't know THAT much !! )

....... but I've read THOUSANDS !! (quietly, in the background ! )

Thanks Guys !!

Been busy with work and stuff so haven't been getting into conversations as much, but I do check up on what's happening here most days. I don't do any other social media. Can't stick all the bs that goes with it and I've seen first hand the amount of time wasted thumbing the screen. I'd rather be outside or actually, physically doing something. :naughty
Most of my time spent computering or smart phoning, is on this forum:lol
Long may it continue :grouphug
